ICYMI! (Yes, I am going to obnoxiously promote this in my feed for a while.)
I profiled the phenomenal Rosamund Pike about playing the #NowYouSeeMe franchise's newest villain, why she's still grieving the end of #TheWheelOfTime, and the roles she's gravitating towards next — although she'll always be interested in more provocative characters:
From Bond Girl to Diamond Queen, Rosamund Pike Still Wants To Provoke You
Rosamund Pike discusses her journey from Bond girl to versatile leading lady, her return to the stage, and saying goodbye to The Wheel of Time.

Still mostly reeling from Hamnet, but I'll say this for now: despite Paul Mescal playing the bigger historical figure in this story, the movie's heart and soul entirely belongs to Jessie Buckley's Agnes. Chloé Zhao continues to know exactly how to wield quiet moments for maximum devastating effect.

This is awful for Paste, awful for my friends, awful for the industry as a whole. (Someone hire Lacy!!!)
Today, Paste Magazine shuttered all its non-music verticals, a choice I am both professionally and personally heartbroken about. Sadly, I am once again looking for a place that wants to let me write about Books and TV on the regular, so hit me up if that’s you or anyone you know.

In addition to the joy of writing for Paste Books, getting to write for Lacy was a professional highlight. The fact that one more place for books/TV/film coverage is shuttering is both maddening and disheartening.

Really enjoyed chatting with @kellyfaircloth.bsky.social about all things dirtbag medievalism, and delighted that the article is out now at Nat Geo: www.nationalgeographic.com/history/arti...
Why are we so obsessed with the medieval right now?
From burning castles to swords and magic and velvet gowns, medievalism has taken over 21st century pop culture.

Romantic Outlaws — bought it on my honeymoon, DEVOURED this marvelous dual biography of Marys Wollstonecraft and Shelley on the plane ride home

My very first Sierra Simone romance novel absolutely rewired my brain in terms of prose

And The Hobbit was the book that turned me into a lifelong reader
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

One of the best shows in forever—achingly sad, hugely entertaining, and really REALLY thoughtful about important things like … the value of humanity. Really! And I gave away as little as I possibly could—almost nothing that’s not in the very opaque trailer.
In 'Pluribus,' isolation is the price of a frictionless life
