it's also a demand never made of, say, rural people who won't go into the city because they think they'll be murdered.
"getting outside your bubble" is an admirable thing when it means trying a new hobby or introducing yourself to your neighbor or watching an art film but people only want to apply it to "being a little more racist just to see how it feels"
these people seem like idiots

ICE has been authorizing officers to forcibly enter homes without judicial warrants—a reversal of longstanding guidance to protect people's constitutional rights.

Senior reporter @samanthamichaels.bsky.social spoke with a family in Memphis that experienced this.

Not holding town halls isn’t enough for Susan Collins and her staff. She also seems to feel the need to arrest those that try to peacefully voice their concerns directly. You can’t represent the people of Maine if you won’t even listen to them. #mepolitics

This is embarrassingly on-the-nose textbook “psychology of fascism” stuff. Bitter, impotent tools getting to feel powerful by proxy watching brutality done on their behalf.
Tim Pool: “I’m not licking the boot. It’s my boot. I voted for it. I’m the one stomping…”

This mindset is genuinely pathetic.

It’s an alpha fantasy: watching state violence and imagining you’re exercising power rather than the one submitting to it.

Definitely a concern for me with all the censorship for children going around these days. The internet helped me figure myself out when no one around me would have. I have bigoted family and was forced into bigoted private religious schools. The internet is the only place for kids who were like me.

UPDATE: After seeing this video, I informed ICE of my intent to visit the Baltimore facility today. I was told I would be denied entry.

It’s clear Trump's ICE would rather engage in a cover up. I will not stop pressing until we get answers. We need transparency & accountability.
Like many of you, I have seen this video, and I'm demanding answers.

My team has reached out to ICE repeatedly and have yet to get clear answers.

Minnesota’s Dept of Corrections has a website that counters ICE’s false claims. It would be great for Maine to do the same. #mepolitics
This is pretty striking. If this piece is correct, even 13 arrests that ICE has publicized in Maine include a bunch of false claims and several people with no apparent record at all.

It should be incumbent on the feds to prove their allegations
This is the kind of work that newspapers used to do. Now they're so overwhelmed just filling white space that there's no time for shit like this, so it's left to randos on the internet to prove DHS/ICE is lying about, well, just about everything:

good time for all of us to revisit this thread
It is hard to grasp but large masses of Americans are both racist/xenophobic AND not racist/xenophobic enough to applaud what Trump is doing. It's goldilocks shit, they want a level of racism/xenophobia calibrated exactly to their personal preferences, and you just can't make that policy. Don't try.

Agreed -- force Trump and Republicans to defend targeting noncriminals, and make them defend diverting massive law enforcement resources away from serious crimes to do so:
While this is a good start, I think there needs to be something in the new law about ICE not targeting legal immigrants without criminal records, and making clear what the mission is.

We have to attack the outrageous fiction that Trump-Miller are targeting only criminal migrants.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

This can't be "reformed"

And a mob of agents killed him.
