Lifelong Mainer, leader, and mom who knows how to get things done. Candidate for Governor.
As I’ve worked on Maine’s Housing Affordability Plan, one thing is clear: Washington isn’t helping. Trump’s 50-year mortgage plan isn’t viable—it dumps debt on families and boosts big banks. Maine’s next governor must fight for housing people can truly afford.
3 questions about Trump's 50-year mortgage plan
Experts in the mortgage industry are skeptical. Buyers would pay less each month, but would end up paying more over time. Here's what to know about the proposed 50-year mortgages.

Some rare good news today from the US Supreme Court which just turned down a request to reconsider gay marriage and the Obergefell decision. I was the lead co-sponsor of gay marriage in 2009 as Speaker of the House, and I know how important it is to stand up for and uphold equality for all families.

170,000 Mainers won’t get their monthly SNAP food support they depend on this November because of the government shutdown.

We need leaders who understand the importance of these essential safety net programs and ensures their future, rather than hurting families as a political weapon.
170,000 Mainers won’t get November SNAP benefits. Blame the shutdown.
About 12.5% of Maine's residents use the assistance program previously known as food stamps, which is already facing historic cuts included in the Republican budget bill passed over the summer.

The 54,000 Mainers who rely on the PTC cannot afford the type of increases that are coming in 2026. Republicans in Washington are opposed to extending these subsidies. It’s time to hold them accountable and fight to protect affordable healthcare for Maine families.

In my 20s, I relied on Planned Parenthood for my primary care, and I know so many others that do the same. I'm deeply saddened by this news.

We need a governor who will fight to protect access, to keep our clinics open, and to make sure every Mainer can get the care they need.

CMP’s latest request for a multi-year rate increase is egregious and out of touch with Maine’s affordability crisis.
