We put out a bold Housing Affordability Plan yesterday that will move the needle in big ways to build more of the housing we need and help families, seniors and workers afford to stay in their communities.

It’s important to celebrate our veterans today, but even more important to honor their service with action, every day. To every veteran: thank you for your courage, devotion and your sacrifice for your fellow citizens.

Today, I met a veteran who had just moved into Peasley Park, after several years of homelessness in the community. Many have worked hard to reduce veteran homelessness in Maine, and as Governor, I will end it in my first year in office.

As I run for Governor, I’m committed to tackling Maine’s housing crisis—because safe, affordable housing is essential for families, workers, seniors, and especially our veterans.

I feel honored to have known Roy for many years as tireless advocate for Maine’s veterans, and it is wonderful to see him honored in this way by Kevin Bunker, Roy's dear friend and the project developer.

As Maine's hero Mary Bonauto, who argued the Obergefell decision said, “Today, millions of Americans can breathe a sigh of relief for their families, current or hoped for, because all families deserve equal rights under the law.”
