It would be an incredible bit if Boeing just insisted that this plane existed but was just too stealthy to see, and then pocketed the money because the President felt that this scanned
It's been clear for a while now that Trump believes stealth literally makes airplanes invisible to the naked eye - like they just go *poof* and disappear - and nobody has ever tried to sway him from this idea. Same thing with Hannibal Lecter -> "asylum" -> immigration. Mush brain oozing out his ears
Trump: "The F-47 is equipped with state of the art stealth technology -- it is virtually unseeable."

This is my Curmudgeon Era.

Not in the nostalgic, “things were better in my day" way.

More in the "I refuse to be gaslit by modernity" way. I refuse to pretend that constant connectivity has made us happier. I refuse to buy into the idea that infinite scrolling is anything but digital debt.
I’m Entering My Curmudgeon Era
My current project: I've been dusting off the old hard drives with my ripped CD collection and loading them into an iPod. A 20-year-old piece of tech with its click wheel intact, no WiFi, and no algorithm feeding me recommendations I didn't ask for. The result: I've started listening to

Forster?

NO, SHE WENT OF HER OWN ACCORD.

As ever with these bits of research I’m reminded of the 1933 Oxford Union debate in which 275 to 153 voted for the motion "That this House will under no circumstances fight for its King and country", and six years later that wasn’t the case at all
Half of Generation Z think that Britain is a racist country and only a tenth would risk their lives to defend it in a war, landmark research for The Times has shown

Social media is basically the political equivalent of squeaky toys for dogs. You can take a dog with an extremely high prey drive, give it a little toy that imitates the sound of small animals screaming, and it'll just sit in the corner all day looking cute while squeaking its pretend squirrel.
YOU CAN'T POST YOUR WAY OUT OF FASCISM: "The greatest of these sins is convincing ourselves that posting is a form of political activism, when it is at best a coping mechanism." Essential reading by Janus Rose in @404media.bsky.social:
You Can’t Post Your Way Out of Fascism
Authoritarians and tech CEOs now share the same goal: to keep us locked in an eternal doomscroll instead of organizing against them, Janus Rose writes.

saw this circulating on Instagram the other day and I can’t stop thinking about it. “Who cares anymore what particular knot they used in the binding?” is such a perfectly expressed repudiation of the “economic anxiety” framing

Happy "Microsoft trying to force CoPilot subs" day in the UK for all who celebrate.

(They just pinged me my renewal notice with it carefully worded to sound like a compulsory general price increase).

1) Go to your account page
2) Hit cancel
3) Change sub back.

This is a sewing pattern. It is also a page from a late 14th century manuscript that is one of two primary sources for an important Icelandic saga (Sturlunga saga), but that was probably not important to the 17th century person who really needed a sewing pattern.
