I have an absolutely phenomenal amount of taxidermy, and you would not believe this, but people are generally really not into it
The push toward “weird design” is about filling your space with items that speak to you, trends and resale value be damned.

A bathtub on the porch, a snail on a door hinge — here are tips on making a space uniquely yours:
Your home is too boring. Let’s get a little weird.

half of all tech news lately is some variation of "the computer company has discontinued their well known product, the computer"

and there's no good fucking answer for that. we're killing immigrants and torturing their children for nothing except the further consolidation of hegemonic power and the daily reminder that we've failed as a nation.

the rest of the world is right to be disgusted by us.

kids' worlds are small. their backpack is an essential character in their life. having that ripped away and his questions about where it went is the perfect illustration of the way in which he understands the injustice being done upon him.

his backpack is gone. where is it? why did they take it?

my son is five, same age as Liam Ramos. you don't need to have a child the same age to be fucking horrified by the violence we are doing (and HAVE BEEN doing) upon immigrant children in this nation. but that he keeps asking for his spidey backpack is the kind of detail that rips my heart in two.

One of my core beliefs about villainy - real evildoers among us - is that it almost never looks as comically wicked as we would expect; it's a kind of reasonable-looking guy standing in front of a podium saying very soberly how he had no choice but to do the evil things.

If anything it makes me like Alex even more

Murdering him in cold blood 11 days later really not beating the "deserved to have your tail lights kicked out" allegations
News Movement posted this video of Alex Pretti on Jan 13, showing him spitting at ICE agents and kicking their taillight.

Now conservatives are suggesting this changes things.

That would mean they are suggesting he deserved to be target of an extrajudicial execution.

The video changes nothing.

It's very difficult to explain this to skeptics because they don't use the tools. But at this point the "name one useful thing" objection can be safely ignored. You can pick this up and build one useful thing *yourself* tonight if you have the slightest bit of imagination.

"Legal, ethical, moral - you're ON CAMERA!"

Like how they legally, ethically, morally pistol whipped and murdered an innocent man in the street.

Imagine how bad they'd be if they weren't on camera.

at this point bluesky really needs a labeler or some way for LLM-based accounts to self-declare that they're LLMs

i like them but there needs to be a way for people that don't to just filter them out cause i can absolutely see how extremely annoying they can be if you dont enjoy that kind of thing

Leftists need to really consider the fact that they were less antifascist than the fucking Cheneys were.

Dick and Liz: “this is too important for normal politics, we will oppose fascism without conditions”

Leftists: “here’s our list of demands, if you meet them all we MIGHT not help fascists win”

The Department of Homeland Security regularly shares Nazi- and white supremacist inspired propaganda! And somehow no one thought “Hey, these guys might do something terrible” until they were executing Americans in the street.

comments are like “this is to rig the voter rolls or they’ll use this data to have ice guard dem precincts” but uh no, they will probably just try to declare the mid term results illegitimate because of italian military satellites working for the chinese and throw the country into chaos
So my connect the dots here is that there will be some allegation that there was foreign interference in the voting — Hugo Chavez, Italian satellites, etc. — (hence why DNI is involved), making it a nat sec issue that they will use to justify doing something crazy/illegal in Nov
“.. U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard speaks on the phone while standing inside a vehicle loaded with boxes outside the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center after the FBI executed a search warrant there.”

what i can appreciate about claude code in the terminal versus the chatbot stuff is that i feel i am talking to computer to make it do computer. whereas the chatbot stuff feels much more like a thing pretending to be human. feels more like using a power tool than going to therapy if that makes sense
Spending more time with Claude Code tonight and I do think one basic reality is that AI skeptics need to update their priors: Plenty of cause for concern, plenty of room to hit these companies for unethical behavior, resource demands, etc, but we are so, so far past the era of "stochastic parrots"
Move Over, ChatGPT
You are about to hear a lot more about Claude Code.
