(This is the list, not sure why that didn’t come through.) The thing to keep in mind — Big Tech doesn’t define the internet. There is *still* a healthy, thriving independent internet of creators, just like there are stores beyond Walmart and restaurants beyond McDonald’s. Find them, support them.

(This is the list, not sure why that didn’t come through.) The thing to keep in mind — Big Tech doesn’t define the internet. There is *still* a healthy, thriving independent internet of creators, just like there are stores beyond Walmart and restaurants beyond McDonald’s. Find them, support them.

Is it really so hard to celebrate small victories while continuing to press for more? Celebrating progress does not mean giving up or settling. I’m starting to feel sorry for these people. They are apparently determined to be unhappy until their world is perfect. Which means always.

It’s crazy to me how many people have internalized “The police are your friend” to the point it never dawns on them that saying some shit on the INTERNET might come back and bite them in the ass.
Perhaps one should not discuss breaking laws on a 100% public social media website that we know the federal government is aware of and monitoring.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

remember, you can yell scream and curse at the political fundraising texts, but DO NOT reply with an actionable threat because the US attorney’s office considers the volunteer batch sending them to be a live human recipient of that message. it’s not just a bot. those cases can and do get charged.

Has there been any analysis of the impact on police officers? The NYPD has a reputation for handing out special stickers to family and VIPs that exempt a car from all traffic enforcement. Automated ticketing reduces that corruption dynamic. I wonder how much of this is from fair enforcement.
