Sometimes this reminder is helpful on Bluesky:

It’s good to oppose Trumpism. Trumpism is evil. But there are plenty of people who oppose Trumpism who are also petty, shitty, annoying people. Block them or ignore them and go back to opposing Trump.

This may be the best prayer it has ever been my privilege to hear or read. This is delightful.
Then I heard him say “Dear Heavenly Father, I have taken the life of one of your creatures today and I am truly sorry, but then again, if you’d wanted it to live, you could’ve kept it out of the attic.”

So, from the way it had been thumping around in the trap I thought it was too big to be a mouse—

Open letter to our Senators:

Gentlemen, Ladies, we don't really care about ICE not getting even more funding. We don't care about more "training" and more rules they won't follow.

We want ICE de-funded. Dismantled. Gone. Driven out of our cities.

ICE is upset that ICE isn't welcome in restaurants after ICE ordered food at a restaurant, ate it, then arrested restaurant employees, and ICE believes this is someone else's fault, do I have that right?

i am not particularly hostile to AI use, but having spent a large part of my day refuting an obvious chatGPT argument offered by someone who outranks me who *did not understand the argument chatGPT told them to make*, i have more reservations about it.

More targeting of legal observers in Maine. People need to be aware that there are abuses by ICE occurring nationwide, not just Minnesota.

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

(This is the list, not sure why that didn’t come through.) The thing to keep in mind — Big Tech doesn’t define the internet. There is *still* a healthy, thriving independent internet of creators, just like there are stores beyond Walmart and restaurants beyond McDonald’s. Find them, support them.

If Democrats haven't announced their proposal for the Donald Trump No Guns in Public bill by the end of the day, they're missing an easy shot
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."

A splendid idea!

Remembering at the time people commenting "we don't have a 'Homeland' we have a nation" plus that sense that the GOP was dying to roll back civil liberties & here was a golden opportunity to do just that.

We should use the Tea Party playbook. Take all this for now and then defund them when we have the levers. Hamstring DHS now and disband it later. Prosecution of their goons will gut them, that’s huge. But keep pressing for abolition.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

Is it really so hard to celebrate small victories while continuing to press for more? Celebrating progress does not mean giving up or settling. I’m starting to feel sorry for these people. They are apparently determined to be unhappy until their world is perfect. Which means always.
