Wildly different things, tasks, techniques, subspecialties being lumped into "AI" and then being conflated with each other, doesn't help. Different types of models vs the techniques to train them vs the tasks they are supposed to accomplish, all under "AI".

Again... we need a taxonomy which separates Machine Learning, and data matching, to GenAI from LLMs pattern matching.

The two have very different parameters, and outcomes.

Conflating them harms the former, and whitewashes the latter.
Catastrophic flooding in Western Washington illustrates how important it is for scientists, engineers and emergency planners to anticipate extreme weather - and how useful a new AI tool that's being developed by @microsoft.com and NASA can be. www.geekwire.com/2025/microso... #Hydrology #Copilot

"Slop" was first used in the 1700s to mean soft mud, but it evolved more generally to mean something of little value. The definition has since expanded to mean "digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence" Great choice @merriam-webster.com

You're not asking trans people. You're asking all people. This affects us all. Anyone could be barred from services based on appearance. Since, surprisingly we all have a fecking appearance

Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Growing up, the main bus in my town was every 10 minutes and always packed. I didn't worry about timetables I just left the house and knew it would be there. Now it's every half hour and completely deserted. This is no coincidence. Fund buses properly and people will use them.

"This fucking sucks" and "all is lost" are two different sentences.

Don't say the second when you mean the first.

Ofc an even more accurate description would be "the run-down hotels where asylum applicants, a majority of whom will prove to be refugees fleeing persecution, are being dumped with minimal subsistence and no right to work, while the Government takes years deciding a huge backlog of their cases"

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.

I really dislike how science has started calling almost any fancy computational technique AI. 🧪

The framing of this entire article makes it sound like a benevolent AI independently made these drugs.

That is *pure fantasy*.

Instead: a team of scientists made a machine learning model for a study.
