I was lucky: the very first thing my college physics professor said to us in Science History 101 was (paraphrasing): the division between arts and sciences is a scam, they overlap and interact endlessly, and we’re going to talk about that.

The current astronomical ICE budget was established by a bill that passed in 2025 with precisely zero (0) democratic votes. But this person, who knows this, wants you to blame democrats for it anyway. You can judge why for yourself.
The ICE budget is so astronomical you have to imagine they will keep inventing new ways to use it and the mission creep has only begun. The budget will create its own permanent constituency of overreach on its own. Thanks Dems.

This is the advice I always give.
Make friends. Real ones.
Maybe they’ll be your collaborators and maybe they won’t. Maybe your careers will grow together, maybe they won’t. That part doesn’t matter as much as real honest connection.
Develop real friendships in the space with people you can trust.

This is a great thread, and true. Fascists are always with us. MAGA has been around since I was a kid. It is periodically emboldened by every shitty GOP President, and some are worse than others.
They are cowards, and shame works. It doesn’t change their broken minds. But it does shut them up.
