Great thread and it starts with a great point. I’ll just go a little further: not only does California produce a third of American food, if we closed our borders and kept all the imports arriving at Port of Los Angeles… every Walmart would have empty shelves in a week.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

I thought this post would show the pic from Patreon, but it doesn’t.

So here’s my stupid face with my brand new mustache. It’s not quite a mustache. It’s more of a canstache. But it’ll get there.

Thread.
NOTE:

(1/3) This handshake deal is for a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would extend government funding only through 1/30/26, with a "minibus" of three full-year appropriations bills that would fund specific programs/agencies, including SNAP benefits, through 9/30/26.

The Hero Initiative is a great cause and you should support it if you can.
One of my all-time favorite Bat writers could really use some help if you’re able.
Hero Initiative is helping writer Mike W. Barr through a series of health problems. If you'd like to contribute directly to Mike as well, go HERE: www.gofundme.com/f/rally-for-...

I mean… it’s the least embarrassing thing in the post, but his -one- tunnel, singular nor plural, is in Las Vegas, not Los Angeles.

Reminder that, unless a creative freelancer has a spouse with a day job that offers health insurance, they likely have an ACA plan. And with the hits to creative industries the past few years, I'm guessing many qualify for subsidies.

Related reminder that comic creators are freelancers.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Take a last look, gang. The shaving starts... now.

Tomorrow is the best comics event in Los Angeles, and if you're in the area, I recommend you stop by REVENGE OF. See Patreon post for details!

Come say "hi!" even if we only know each other from the internets.

A more detailed sequel to my earlier PSA.

Take a look, and adjust settings accordingly.
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

The Hero of our times goes free.

The justice department couldn’t grinder down. Their case was sub par. He won’t have to pay any bread.

And so forth.
We have reached a verdict: Not guilty.

PSA.

People weaponize this one when they lose an argument. Turn it off.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

I dream of a world with consequences for pundits.

A hilarious failure like this should always be a career-ender. Nothing dire or violent, mind you. Just… never paid for an opinion again.

no one hates women like transphobes hate women. you wouldn’t go through life treating trans femmes like they’re using cheat codes if you believed cis women could actually just be better at stuff than a man
Always amazing to me how so much of transmisogyny is just misogyny. Am I (cis woman) male brained when I tell people to fuck off or joke around with the lads (gender neutral) on Discord?
Brianna Wu called our writer, the esteemed @alyssaur.bsky.social, "male brained" for engaging in some light online shit-talking.

Today on Assigned Media, Aly Gibbs has some more words for Brianna.

I recorded 72 episodes of Pulp Today. (I’m going to make more soon.)

Out of 72 episodes, only once did I have to record a second take, and it was this one.

Why?

I just got too mad talking about the subject. Here’s the level-headed take.

Not running out of wins to post today.

This is what a rout looks like.
Van Campen defeated six-term incumbent Mayor Carlo DiMaria, the guy who allowed ICE to kidnap a 13-year-old from his city last month. Elections have consequences.
Congratulations to Rob Van Campen, Mayor-Elect of Everett!

Post the Wins, which today are so many…
In my election preview, I'd identified 6 Connecticut towns to watch: I flagged that Democrats were defending the mayorship of Danbury and Norwalk, and hoping to flip Bristol, Milford, New Britain, & Stratford.

Dems won all 6 mayor's races (so 4 flips).

They flipped others too.
