Safe thing to dunk on but I think this line of reasoning is a perfect example of what happens when you apply amaterial thought to literature's history. Books before 1976 don't matter! All the genres we have came from nothing. Effects occur without causes

It is appropriate that "homeowners association" and "happily ever after" have the same acronym. I will not elaborate.

I mean, I'll concede that it's maybe more 'technically competent' than I would've expected, but it isn't trying to do or say much of anything interesting. There's not really a theme, everything present is something you've already seen, etc. If there IS a theme it's "this AI is so smart and cool"

Found one of the folks involved with the CWA and unionizing of Sherri’s Ranch.

The demand that they own the workers IP is insane. We saw this over the summer in LA landlords saying they own all content made in an apartment.

This is that but escalated

These are called honor killings 👍
A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump.

A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges.

Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.

Folks I’ve run the numbers on this and—you won’t believe this—for the 900th issue in a row, the real problem is not the issue itself but instead the way “””The Left””” talks about it. What are the odds
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

All American postmodernists are called either Something Barth(elme) or Wiliiam Ga(ddi)s(s)
As one anecdote, I got into a long convo with someone who kept saying all contemporary American literary fiction was "postmodernist" and I kept asking what specific novels they were talking about. Eventually they said "I was thinking of when I was in college 20 years ago and was assigned Barthes."

There are too many "progressives" saying "authoritarian" instead of "FASCIST". The rule of law relies upon authority. A democratic system cannot move forward without explicitly naming the evils it faces.

A weapon made solely to deny families closure, to inflict psychic damage on entire societies. People planned and built this. They sold it to their superiors. They manufactured it. They loaded it on planes and drones and dropped it on human beings.
“Four of my children just evaporated,” Badran said, holding back tears. “I looked for them a million times. Not a piece was left. Where did they go?”

There are no words to adequately describe the evil here.

I really feel like there's this real tendency to do reparative readings on masculine-coded garbage while treating feminine-coded garbage as irredeemable slop. And it's hard to talk about because relevant media is for-real terrible, but one notices a pattern in how people treat that terribleness.
Pet peeve: I often see a critique of contemporary SFF premised on the idea that the mid to bad fiction of today is more boring than the mid to bad fiction of the past, and friends, as someone who delights in huffing yesterday's garbage, bad SFF has always been mostly boring.
