In 1st grade I wrote this short story about my original superhero character. My name was missing but my teacher knew it was mine. She then spoke to the class and lambasted them for their stories being worse than mine in every way, saying she knew it was mine because mine was the only one that was ever any good. The takeaway here is that my 1st grade teacher was fucking insane

Wyrd is a concept in Anglo-Saxon culture roughly corresponding to fate or personal destiny. The word is ancestral to Modern English weird, whose meaning has drifted towards an adjectival use with a more general sense of "supernatural" or "uncanny", or simply "unexpected". The cognate term to wyrd in Old Norse is urðr, with a similar meaning, but also personified as a deity: Urðr (anglicized as Urd), one of the Norns in Norse mythology. The word also appears in the name of the well where the Norns meet, Urðarbrunnr.

Great stuff, hope her campaign is successful. This isn't quite what I'm looking for, though, as the campaign is still ongoing and, from what I've been able to find, hasn't produced results yet. This is all I've been able to find in response from Square:

Most of their books have forewords written by a prolific serial rapist. Half of them participated in driving a trans woman off of the internet and back into the closet, or built careers of dogpiling other marginalized writers. They continue to write pro-colonialist, pro-empire stories, take sponsorships from war criminals, and include horrifically sexist remarks in their how-to-write books. We want to pretend we are in a more enlightened age of SFF, but we’re little better than our predecessors. All the old rot is still there, but we’ve found a way to use diversity as a talking point without being all that diverse at all.
