Jeffies: "Donald Trump had the nerve to dismiss the popular opposition leader of Venezuela. He said that she did not have the support of the Venezuelan people. Donald Trump does not have the support of the American people! He's historically unpopular."

Help me understand this. If Dems are no different than republicans and yelling at republicans is pointless(according to them) why do they then yell at democrats?

I mean obviously this is a posthoc justification for why they didn’t do something they did not have the practical ability to do right?

They made a deal with Maduro’s allies to oust him; you obviously cannot make that deal with his enemies and get the same result
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Campist leftist politics is uniquely vile towards exiled communities, from Syrians to Venezuelans. The moment these groups fail to perform “correctly” in unfolding political crises, their identity is stripped away & replaced with smears.

Such accusations are so predictable at this point.

It seems like a dodge but it’s actually quite damning that the Secretary of State was not even asked for his input on the pardon of a recent head of state of another country.
RUBIO: Maduro was indicted. Nobody ever did anything about it.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hernandez was convicted by a jury

RUBIO: The pardon authority is something I'm not involved in

STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you support it?

RUBIO: I wasn't involved in those deliberations. I haven't looked at the case file.

trump *explicitly saying* it's About The Oil does not actually signify that it is about the oil, it signifies that Trump's brain is leaking out of his fucking ears and he genuinely believes it's about the oil because someone juiced it to him that way to get him to support a coup they wanted btw

So Trump has:
-illegally abducted Maduro, which the neocons love, because they want the opposition to take over
-but then left his VP, who fully supports him, in charge
-but said she would follow his orders
-but then she didn't
-and now the Venezuelan opposition is also condemning Trump

anyway Trump has for whatever reason decided not to back the opposition in Venezuela, probably because he doesn't want to back a loser and doesn't want to commit to continued military action, which means that "Maduro sucks but WTF" is a free space for Dems.

I don’t morally object to the US or any other power getting rid of Maduro. I do object to a US president arbitrarily doing it, & I disagree with the action in the first place because there is insufficient evidence that this will achieve a more salutary, just existence for the people of Venezuela.

Chuck Schumer & Hakeem Jeffries job is not to be your fuckin social media therapist, it is to keep their caucuses united through every vote and procedure and rule, and right now Schumer has a B- while Jeffries gets an easy A, probably A+ on that. that's really it. y'all need to put down your phones.

like, I have read comments in just the last half hour that show fairly plainly that there are a number of folks On Here who are literally on the brink of a mental health crisis because they've read a somewhat badly written skeet from Chuck Schumer and now srsly believe it's the end of the Republic.
the *only* thing that REALLY, TRULY matters is that in November, 2024 this country decided that they wanted Donald Trump & the GOP to be back in charge of everything, and no amount of angrily replying to whatever Congressional staffer is manning their Bluesky account can change that.
