yes. it is like the Holocaust in this way.

you have never seen a truthful depiction of either of those things on screen because it is impossible to accurately depict them. you could not do it to actors, to children, you could not make it as bad as it was.
"How bad slavery was" is worse. Much worse. Much worse than you think, much worse than you're taught, much worse than museums depict. Worse.

Bit of a long shot here, but: a friend is looking for a wrist support that you can attach to a computer mouse so it moves around with you -- apparently this used to be a thing (possibly made by Fellowes?) but neither of us can find any evidence of it still existing. Ring any bells? Any ideas?

Reminder that Putin has never said he wants a trilateral meeting, had never said he would respect Ukrainian sovereignty, and has never said he wants to end the war. Not to be a downer, but the discussion of security guarantees is premature.

Today, apparently, is National Potato Day in America, so if you’d like an absurdly long thread of root-vegetable-native-to-the-Americas content, you’ve come to the right place. We begin with the potato monument in Biesiekierz, Poland, because, well: look at it. Of course we do

A patient with type 1 diabetes has begun producing his own insulin after receiving a transplant of pancreatic cells. For the first time, islet cells have been edited so they wouldn't be rejected by the patient, removing the need for immunosuppressant drugs.

Mosley for the 2020s. A posh bloke using knuckle dragging thugs for political advancement.
Robert Jenrick, the Tory Shadow Justice Secretary and former Home Office Minister, joining protesters outside an asylum hotel is one of the most disgusting acts by a frontline British politician in living memory.

Little wonder Trump achieved the square root of sod all.
Witkoff claims on CNN that Trump and Putin agreed to "robust security guarantees," such as "Article 5 protection from the United States." 🤔

About 15 years ago, I wrote a story for Viz about exam results day and the Telegraph and Mail’s barely disguised boner for teen blondes jumping and smiling. And it got published, because I don’t think it had been skewered before. And now that appears to be a standard joke. And that feels quite nice.
