Recovering X and Twitter addict. Looking for a funnier, more intelligent place.
Lifelong Leeds United supporter.
I block racists.
Elderly white hippie and proud.
If #r4today reflected Dyson vacuum cleaners, the programme would have started brightly, developed problems around 7.30 and finally packed up just before the 8.00 news.

I really don't like around half of the England Test team. Posh kids pissing about isn't an enjoyable spectacle.

Trump is a husband, father and grandfather. Is he aware it's Christmas, a time to be with family?
For him, every day is Festivus and the opportunity to air his grievances.

The most revealing comments from Donald Trump are about dogs. He hates them. How is that possible?
Speaks volumes about the fella.

Nothing says Christmas Day TV like manslaughter.
I miss the pre Eastenders era when the biggest controversy on BBC1 at around 8pm was Angela Rippon showing her legs on Morecambe and Wise.

If anyone is reading the obituaries of John Robertson wondering which team was the last one to beat Forest before their 42 game unbeaten run in 1977/78 , it was Leeds United.

You don't have to be a Forest fan to be in awe of the club's achievements under Brian Clough.
John Robertson was part of a team that was greater than the sum of its parts. A joy to watch and a brilliant advert for English football.

Three things in life are certain - death, taxes and the winter sale at DFS.

Two stories have made appearances on my TL today. Trump behaving like a dick and the Cardiff couple who took in a vulnerable young man for 45 years.
Proof that what matters isn't wealth and power but respect, love, belonging in a family and joy.
Here endeth the lesson, back to the egg nog.

Raiders of the Lost Ark on TV. Saw it in Kendal in 1983 escaping the pissing rain outside.
It was a joyous riot, kids stood on seats, cheering, shouting. We were all involved in a way that isn't the case at the local multiplex.
For those who know Kendal the venue is now Kwik Fit.

Happy memories of getting my son a T shirt with "Very good, Davis" on the front for Xmas when he moved to Manchester.
He was nervous about wearing his Leeds United shirt in public but it served as a code to alert other fans.

Does anyone with a regional accent listen to Classic FM?

Adds that Trump doesn't know Tommy to the long long list of reasons why I hate him...
Trump to kids aged 6 and 10 who asked for a Kindle: "You must be a high IQ person, we need more high IQ people in the country."
Kid: "I'd like a pinball machine."
Trump: "Elton John did Pinball Wizard, we'll send you that."

A real Fanny and Johnny Craddock vibe in our kitchen at the moment but with less alcohol or badly applied make up.

Happy Christmas from North Yorkshire.
It is a time to reflect and, for most of us, to count our many blessings.

Think I've reached peak John Rutter. Lovely fella, lovely music but its ubiquity at Christmas is getting a bit much.

The version of Silent Night on Together at Christmas is awful. Bloated with strings when it should be minimalist.
The version of Silent Night by Simon and Garfunkel with the news in the background is as good as any Christmas song.
1m 30s of genius.

Thinking of long gone Christmases and around this time on Christmas Eve my mother would disappear into the kitchen to put the sprouts on to simmer so they'd be properly cooked in 18 hours time.

A reminder that Jacob Rees Mogg once said his favourite Christmas present ever was some anointing oil from the coronation of Queen Victoria given to him by his father.
Hats off to William Rees Mogg for passing off a tiny £5 bottle of olive oil from Boots as a gift.

One Christmas tradition will end tonight after 20 years. As our son is with his in laws he won't get asked by our priest at Mass if he's home from university for the vacation.
My son is 36 and graduated in 2010.
