Happy birthday to the great Yoko Ono. The world didn’t deserve her, still doesn’t, and may never catch up with her.

Also, who knew she was so tall?

My wife had a couple good ones. In 1977 she got taken to a family friendly cutdown of Saturday Night Fever at the Will Rogers Theatre in Chicago.

In 1988 she saw The last Temptation of Christ- still has the “Ticket to Hell” she was handed by a protestor
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

Reservoir Dogs, opening week - very different before it was a cult movie, nobody knew what to expect, the ear scene was tense

The Princess Bride - a lot of fun, but much improved on tv from a cozy couch

The Blair Witch Project - saw it early at Chicago Film Fest. Scared me plenty

Oh, the details 🥰
Follow me! I'm posting the whole novel of #MobyDick bit by digestible bit.

The wonderful thing about MD is you can join any time! The beauty of the book is in its details, not its plot.

So come read with me.

Age verification? Hey, my brother was telling me about some new movie called Star Wars that’s coming out soon. But how could sf movies ever be cooler than Logan’s Run?
Age verification? I complained to my mom that all the good movies at the rental store were on Beta and we only had VHS.

Great day at @mcachicago.bsky.social seeing Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind. An enormous, wide-ranging collection that really showed off her versatility, keen mind, fearlessness, and hilarious sense of humor. If you can get there before it ends, DO SO!! @yokoono.bsky.social #yokoono

Four excellent illustrations tell a story I can sure relate to, I think a lot of us can. Beautiful work!
A TIMELY PARABLE:

While the people scrounged what they could to survive, a wealthy merchant amassed so much treasure that, if he chose, he could transform the land into a happy, healthy paradise. 1/4
