Trying to figure out if NSCAD cancelling all classes means extended studies classes too (so far, no messaging about this and no reply to my email). My online "loose landscapes" watercolour class is supposed to start tonight! 😞 (I'm thinking maybe no news is good news and it's going ahead.)

Watercolour practice: pretty good clouds, pretty good foreground of snow dusted terrain, lousy leaves. I really need to learn how to create leafy effects!

If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.

Trying not to let the pretty good odds that we'll have a snow day on Monday deter me from prepping my classes. They're on Browning and The Mill on the Floss so it's not so tough. 🙂

When the vet's office said it was cheaper to buy the expensive preventive medicine in bulk because I was eligible for a rebate that way, I somehow expected to get back more than $7.50 CAD. 😅

So what does is mean when the power outage map says “outage requested by local authorities”?

Bill 12 misses the real cost crisis in Nova Scotia universities - Halifax Examiner
The bill directs its strongest tools toward academic restructuring while bypassing scrutiny of how universities are funded, governed, and managed financially. If sustainability is the objective, then ...

There is a new "55+ community" being created locally called Bloomsbury and they just opened the Tavistock residence and honestly, I'm so tired, maybe this is a sign.

There are only 320 people ahead of me with holds on The Correspondent so I guess I’ll be reading that in June or July if I’m lucky. 🙃

Got the royalty statement from Taylor & Francis and I am delighted to say I made $36 USD and will get paid $0 USD because they don't bother cutting such tiny cheques. 🙃

Wait Norway doesn't give out the peace prize and neither do any governments and why is a petulant toddler who is clearly ineducable shaping world events anyway wtaf.

Lord of Scoundrels. It should star Richard Armitage as Dain and maybe Jenna Coleman as Jessica. It would be a massive blockbuster sensation. 😍
Name a book that should be made into a movie or TV series

My iPad updated and I hate it. Why do they have to change so much? I get fixing bugs and stuff but changing how things look and work without giving us any control is so annoying.

All evening meals should just be chips and dip. Or at any rate that should be a legit option. 🙃

I don't really mind missing class time on Hemans this morning but this afternoon was for "Maggie runs away to the 'gypsies'" and "Tom starts school and becomes 'like a girl'" in The Mill on the Floss. 🥲 (We will 100% talk about those incidents in our *next* class, but we'll have less time for them.)

Snow day! Too bad Fred didn’t get the message. Or maybe she did and thought that meant I should start the day extra early for more quality time with her. 🙃😴

Torn between avoiding the news because there's nothing I can do and feeling I should keep up with it in case there's anything I can do. And the thing is, it so does not need to be this way. It's a such a small planet, really. I wish we could take care of it and each other instead of all this.

I finished My Father's House last night. It's a very good book but I can't decide if now was exactly the right or exactly the wrong time to read it. I couldn't stop projecting onto it my own fears about how things are going in our time.

There are a few people who are very heavily invested in this tech. They have a lot of resources and a very strong interest in getting you to believe that this stuff delivers what it promises. But it doesn’t.
