..Watson, przynieś swój rewolwer!
Said before but much as I love the ITV Holmes I think even though it's his most famous case (with the glowing hound as a powerful folk memory image ) I think it's a poor story and makes for a hard adaptation there's too many red herring villains and your new lord of manor is a dick .

I'm starting a personal project to photograph 100 different bird species in the calendar year 2026. The album is over on Facebook. These were a sample from today's walk round a local nature reserve. Nice to see the elusive and secretive water rail.

Must be good being a big beast US political/tech writer you can knock out some pat political truism while making coffee and watching it get reposted by half the world. Rinse and repeat, while the terrible things just keep happening.

Well as the festive season slowly fades, it's time to say goodbye for another 11 months to Robin Guthrie, the Guardian Spirit of Christmas ready for his newspaper nest on top of the wardrobe. Sleep well Robin Guthrie.

Seen folk having literary japes with the op post , having just read "Breakfast at Tiffany's" brands do pop up in "literary fiction" plus high profile authors have written stories for bulgari and landrover recently

Also unlike the other two there's no such thing as a bad crumpet plus they actively attract butter, where as the other two go out of their way to repel butter oh and it's spelt beigel
Crumpets are God-tier food and should be as globally famous and popular as bagels or pretzels

We need fewer movies about Alexander the Great, and more movies about Aristotle and Theophrastus bopping around on the Island of Lesbos, just two best buds climbing trees, poking under rocks, walking on the beach, cataloging all the plants and animals they can find.

Hmm @trientertainment.bsky.social not sure about the idea of a "national treasure" anymore. I think we have too atomised a culture. It was telling how many in your list weren't recognised by over 50% of the population. I know from my work team when someone notable has died how little effect it has
