Now retired science teacher and school leader, after 31 years I decided to hang up my chisel point. Grandad, father, husband, cyclist, birdwatcher, foodie and baker. Still interested in all things education especially research informed practice
I’m celebrating Gold 🥇 medals with golden daffs and a glass of this spectacular beer; Pliny the Elder, a souvenir of our Californian holiday. It is everything you said @petebrownbeer.bsky.social

@suecowley.bsky.social can you recommend an independent seed seller, rather than just using one of the larger national on line suppliers?

Phew...we have a gold medal. Spectacular Matt Weston. He has dominated skeleton bob all season. Deserved winner.

#Olympics.

Using marbles on a ramp with stationary "atoms" to discuss electricity. Interesting for science teachers #edusky

Curling is interesting. The stones don't always move like you expect them to. Weird physics.

Calling all science followers and educators, #eduphysics #eduscience I am looking for book titles for a 11y old who is dead keen on science to read before she joins secondary school in September, thanks everyone, PS please share even if you are not sure yourselves

top tip: For good e-bike battery management you're not supposed to leave them on full charge, so I had to do a ride just to knock it off a little. Lovely little ride in the low cloud and drizzle, and for the record other road users very courteous www.strava.com/activities/1...

We’ve been in a power cut for nearly 2 hrs now. On the local FB sites things are getting desperate. Expecting the posts soon “It’s the potholes, it’s cos the bins aren’t collected, bungs to councillors and not putting money in the meter…. vote Re…….”

I am unable to find data to refute this but it is being widely reported that more people watched 2nd vs 6th in the Premiership last night on TV than watched the so called Worlds biggest sporting event the Super Bowl .

I’m not exactly sure who Bad Bunny is (says more about me than him) but if Trump doesn’t like him he’s now top of my Christmas card list.

When the weather’s this rubbish there’s only one thing to do; get the toys out and make pasta.

TV critics, when reviewing the new Lord of the Flies series please do not refer to it as a social experiment. It is a piece of fantasy, fiction, it's a story. The reality is more complex. Children do not become feral with no adults the opposite could be true. www.theguardian.com/books/2020/m...
The real Lord of the Flies: what happened when six boys were shipwrecked for 15 months
When a group of schoolboys were marooned on an island in 1965, it turned out very differently to William Golding’s bestseller, writes Rutger Bregman
