Now retired science teacher and school leader, after 31 years I decided to hang up my chisel point. Grandad, father, husband, cyclist, birdwatcher, foodie and baker. Still interested in all things education especially research informed practice
it is my privilege to be Chair of our local cycling club. On Sunday we organised a day of cyclocross races with 200+ entrants. Why do we do this? Because cyclocross is a glorious example of all ages, sexes and abilities coming together to ride their bikes around in the mud. What fabulous fun!

What is it with foodies on the T'interweb? Why do so many feel the need to squeeze food repeatedly. I honestly cannot ever remember going into a cafe and giving a pasty or a teacake a good squeeze?

I’m not sure of the exact translation but can confirm it has “intense smaak” and whatever “smeuig”is it certainly was “zeer”

Bit of a mixed birthday weekend for me. On the positive, we welcomed into the world our second Grandson, Theodore. On the downside I seem to have had flu and been relegated to the settee under a blanket for most of it, thus delaying our chance to visit.

Got it!!! Since comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon has been visible we have not had a clear horizon to see it. But patience has proven successful and so here it is. You will need binoculars and probably an app on your phone to find it as it is v faint. These are 2-4 second exposures.

Cultural activity of the morning; the Senior showing at our local cinema. Choice of Hammer House Curse of Frankenstein with Peter Cushing or I Swear. Going with the latter. Free coffee & biscuits £5 and the cinema is 3/4 full.

I've just finished this and loved it. It is a very idiosyncratic rock memoir/ cookbook. I found it fascinating not least just how long ago some of my fave tracks were released. (Rapper's delight is older than I recalled.) See what Rockfield studios looked like, in www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b...

The Dave Robicheaux novels of James Lee Burke, the one author I collect. When I have them all I will go to a cottage somewhere for a week and just sit and read them all in order.....

This is the weirdest, most infantile, and inappropriate action you will ever see from an encumbent President of the United States,
UNTIL TOMORROW

So many emotions watching the Queen material on the BBC. The first programme I remember watching on our first colour TV, TOTP with Bohemiam Rhapsody. My only really cool live rock experience, seeing the last true Queen performance at Knebworth, Aug 86.

We were reminded of this image by @billybragg.bsky.social on @bbc6music.bsky.social this afternoon. Seems a good time to get my Woody Guthrie tribute album out for a listen.

@dustysevens.bsky.social has had a particularly exclamatory morning. Top work.

A slow day at our local nature reserve. Magisterial heron, teenage grebes showing off to each other, more fungi than you can shake a stick at and distant skeins of geese.

I only found this out yesterday. I didn't like how on here I seemed to miss posts from people I followed.I found out about the "bell+" button on a person's profile (see image) this allows you to be sent a notification when they post or reply (the default is off) helps curate your feed.

Recipe from the masters of the scone @nationaltrust.org.uk initial feedback: it needs a really good mature cheddar or even some Parmesan to get more cheese flavour.

In the home of the best pork Pie (Percy Turner's in case you need reminding) It has often surprised me that the local chippies don't do Pork Pie and chips. Tonight Shaw's of Dodworth has remedied that.

Then there is this passage. And this is why reading whole books rather than synopses (from a previous post from @iammilliam.bsky.social ) There are ideas here that would disappear from a synpopsis as they "merely" give colour and background to the character and the plot.....
