Made my own blinis for the first time this morning and I would just like to apologise to anyone on whom I ever inflicted a supermarket-bought blini. Merry Christmas!

Waitrose at 7am. Spartacus at 3pm. Fino at 3.30pm. It’s only the 23rd and I feel like I’ve already won at Christmas.

This is great. I’m regularly asked to check something I’ve written because some AI bullshit doesn’t agree with it, and have to explain that I’ve used sources that are not online. My writing is richer when I get my hands dirty.
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.

This is an important Christmas tradition. It would be wrong if a Christmas Wonderland experience were anything other than a port cabin with some fairy lights and a dog with some antlers stapled to its head.

Today in @thetimes.com I break down the price of a pint and explain why it costs so much. Over half of all job losses in the last year have been in hospitality - pubs need help. www.thetimes.com/life-style/f...
How much is too much for a pint?
The £5 barrier was breached long ago and at some London bars you could pay £10. When will drinkers just stop buying beer? And what do struggling landlords want to see in the budget?
