This is what we're up against. Bangor University, that fine and noble institution where I've spoken twice, nearly 150 years young and still going strong. The sheer hatred they reserve for us shows what could happen after 2029, but also that they're frightened of knowledge and learning.

New meaning of “undisputed” just dropped.
Q: The rule today would block anti-tariff votes in the future. What's the reasoning for that?

MIKE JOHNSON: The president's trade policies have been a great benefit to the country. It's undisputed. I think the sentiment is we allow a bit more runway for this to be worked out.

The Super Bowl outrage on Twitter reminds me of one of the earliest supposed “legitimate concerns” touted about London - that if you travelled on the Tube you would hear people speaking languages other than English /1

If only there was a @billablehour.bsky.social T-shirt you could buy to commemorate this historic event and raise money for @savechildrenuk.bsky.social. Wait … billablehour.teemill.com/product/for-...

A daily member signed up on a website to participate in a litigation relating to a data leak. Step one was signing a CFA and providing contact details. He was the emailed a questionnaire. At that point he decided that he would not bother. “These things happen” he reasoned. /1

Life peer Lord Glasman explaining how he dislikes arrogant, unaccountable, useless people. 👀
Unbelievable! 😡😡😡
Here's the founder of Blue Labour, Maurice Glasman, spouting far-right bile about the European Convention on Human Rights. His arrogance, populism and intellectual laziness echo Farage, Bannon, Musk, Thiel and Reform. The "she" he's referring to is Mahmood, who's also Blue Labour.

Time for McSweeney to move to the phase of his career where he writes the same column monthly saying that the Govt’s woes are a consequence of them having failed to stay the course he charted for them.

Does politics work the same way as football? Is this like sacking the head coach because fans are chanting about the ownership?
BREAKING: Morgan McSweeney quits as Keir Starmer's chief of staff amid fall-out from the Mandelson scandal
February 8, 2026 at 2:16 PM
I’m worried that if Starmer were to fail it would undermine the positive impression of barrister PMs that people have formed as a result of Thatcher and Blair.

Without naming your job, tell us something you say over and over again at work.

“Given that your prospects of winning are weak and the costs of the fight exceed what you’ll recover, if it’s about the “principle” at least try to define what that principle is.”
Without naming your job, tell us something you say over and over again at work.

"In English, please."

So Tom McTague, who a few years ago was recommending Hugo Young, has now written a book about our relationship with Europe which has been reviewed by Vernon Bogdanor who claimed Powell was a "committed" European before 1969.

Now I just want to die. What's the use if the bullshit cycle never stops?

Sir Guenter Treitel came to the UK on the Kindertransport. He became the foremost authority on English contract law.
Famously, he held the Rolling Stones to their contract to play the Magdalen Ball in 1964 for £100 - they had suddenly become superstars after being booked as unknowns in 1963.
Magdalen launches Sir Guenter Treitel Scholarships.

Each year, three Sir Guenter Treitel Scholars will be provided with full funding (fees and maintenance) to study the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Magdalen College.

I’m not entirely sure what is wrong with me but I really enjoy talking to live audiences and find it relaxing. Talking to someone on the phone is agonising. Listening to a voicemail is almost more than I can bear.

The President has issued his invitation for politics to embrace open racism. It’s not like it was otherwise hard to detect, but this still feels like a big step further.
Just confirmed it myself by viewing the video on Truth Social. This is real. He really did this and he has not deleted it.

I’d be incredibly uncomfortable with the thought of injecting myself in the privates. But then I’d be even more uncomfortable with the thought of doing the ski jump.

It's not that hard. We don't have to let workers or students come here in the first place - as long as we are willing to bear the economic, tax and other costs of not doing so. But if we do let them in, we should treat them decently. And their children!
Child poverty is the fault of the parents, says the Labour Home Secretary. Or the fault of the children for existing. I'm not sure but it seems to be one of the two.
"Are you worried that there will be an impact on child poverty?"

Home Secretary "This is a system of economic migration ... they chose to bring their families with them" is the underlying principle.
