This is perhaps slightly off-color and a little too "big picture" for a day when something so horrifying has happened, but it is startlingly to me just how over their skis and pushed to the limits the feds are by one medium sized urban area.

My contacts in exurban Houston for departments report that the majority opinion there is now that they wish they could take back their votes. They're losing their grip on the white working class vote. It's over for the GOP this year.
If they lost asm*ngold I think that's kinda game over, right? Some of the shittiest people in the world are even getting sick of this now.

Carriers should be named after battles and Revolutionary War era ships. Boomer subs should be named after states. Surface vessels should be named after cities, admirals, MOH recipients, etc. Attack subs should be named after fish and Jimmy Carter.

i think this is correct and i think what it exposed is that our regular legal order was fundamentally incapable of overcoming partisan polarization to impose said consequences
i feel that the failure to impose any consequences on Trump for January 6 is the root cause of everything bad that is happening now
