I’m sorry, but if people ostensibly on our side have the power to fight and choose not to, how can we expect them to be useful in some later fight? And how can we remove the feckless from power and replace them with fighters without a fight?
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week
Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

Regardless of intent, actions like this are an argument for dissolution of the union.
Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.

One of the flaws in the logic here is that one side is actively trying to prevent so many of us from either living here or living at all. This assumes from the other side good faith and shared ideals that demonstrably aren't present.
"Much of what I would describe as Kirk's worst moments were now just standard fair MAGA Republicanism. And the leader of MAGA Republicanism is the President of the United States...we are going to have to live here with each other believing what we believe. Disagreeing in the ways we disagree."

This is not the safe course, it's a reckless gamble that the party will magically rebound from record unfavorable polling numbers by quietly helping Republicans fund their agenda and avoid a major electoral problem until just after the midterms.

This level of corruption is not normal or acceptable. Even if we are exhausted by each report of it going further and further, we can never grow numb to it.

The central dividing line in Democratic politics is not between the left and the moderate wing, it’s between serious people who understand we’re in an existential fight against an incipient fascist regime and irredeemable narcissists who just want to keep fighting the 2016 primary forever.

Really impossible to overstate how completely this guy has failed at every aspect of being an opposition leader over the past six months. Jeffries is a truly inspiring example for every soulless careerist who would rather be king of nothing than stand for anything decent in the world.

- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
