OpenAI fired one of its top safety execs, on the grounds of sexual discrimination, after she voiced opposition to the controversial rollout of AI erotica in its ChatGPT product.

OpenAI told her the term was related to her sexual discrimination against a male colleague.

Elections matter.
In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

Pretty fucked up that huge tech companies are waiting for us to be distracted by an even larger event than the events that are currently happening so they can slip in some nefarious shit without us knowing
Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

That's funny, #cuethewhining could be the Dodgers' official slogan
Today's advice, to all of those in and around baseball who believe a salary cap is the only way forward: The Dodgers - who spend money and are innovative in other areas - would still have an advantage.

Ah, but cue the whining.

Alexander: New baseball season, same old refrain
In what world does it make sense to shut the game down over a salary cap? It didn’t in 1994, and it doesn’t now.

Guessing you could eliminate all play by play/analyst teams and have AI do it in the style/voice of a past duo of your choice. I’d gladly take this, since we’re so bereft of actual broadcasting talent these days.
Adam Silver: "There's no doubt that AI will have the same impact on sports... how we're going to be able to [hyper-personalize] our telecasts... We're about to witness probably the most significant change, certainly in my lifetime, in how sports are presented." 🏀📺🎙️ #NBA

“.. I suppose I could have simply, unilaterally, ordered the military to go into some red state and harass and intimidate a governor there or cut off funding for states that didn't vote for me... but that is contrary to how I think our democracy is supposed to work."

I cannot express in words my rage and annoyance at conservatives and “normies”
who screamed at the top of their lungs about inflation and high prices all through 2024, and yet, as utility bills and groceries and cost of living are reaching record prices they sit silent as little church mice.
Remember when Kamala Harris in 2024 called tariffs the Trump Tax and the fact checkers had a nervous breakdown and said tariffs are not technically a tax. I remember.

Photos. Of everyone.

“The idea that a huge swath of the United States populace wants and needs the right wing’s unreality – their alternative reality – is a giant farce, a big, fake, neon, festering artifice constructed and maintained by people who need it to be real for financial and political and cultural purposes.”
I wrote about the right-wing Super Bowl halftime show as part of a larger project to create and maintain an unreality in which the American right is culturally and politically dominant.

The worst part: It works.

Have to laugh anytime I hear someone come on a podcast or other media to explain why Bitcoin has crashed once again.

It’s a scam. It bears no connection to reality. It’s volatile because it’s fake.

Blockchain is a technology and has potential applications. But bitcoin itself is snake oil.
