It’s ok to just say “movies have mostly gotten worse” and not bend over backwards for older, still bad movies.
I would just like to say I am not here for nostalgia about the Michael bay transformers movies. Those movies are terrible, we knew they were terrible at the time, and they remain, to this day, terrible. Grow up.
