The Colts are going to finish the season with Jonathan Taylor rushing for 1,600 yards and no other running back on the roster even getting to 100 yards.

No other RB on the roster is even going to get to 100 scrimmage yards. That’s wild.

News with @ken-rosenthal.bsky.social: The Yankees are talking to the Miami Marlins about a potential trade for starting pitcher Edward Cabrera. Brian Cashman said last month that he would "love" to add another starter.

Gotta give him credit for those four missed tackles forced
i take back every bad thing i've ever said about Week 18

Honestly, felt like way more than 18 yards too
Emanuel Wilson just got tackled for an 18-yard loss for Packers on a run play vs Vikings. Last RB to lose 18+ yards on a carry (without a fumble) was Jon Vaughn (-20 for Seahawks vs Chargers on 9/18/1994)

I think if everyone was very convinced that Trevor Lawrence had emerged as an elite QB once before, then that would be a relevant detail when trying to figure out how likely it is that he has now truly emerged as an elite QB.
How is any of that his problem? It’s entirely possible that he had a bad coaching situation for 4 years and that NFL media is garbage.
January 4, 2026 at 7:05 PM
I mean, with hindsight we can be a bit more judicious with these things, but … there was an awful lot of excitement about the talent in that passing game when they added Ridley! I remember, I watched it happen!
I mean other than BTJ (who’s regressed this year) who has he had? Christian Kirk is good but not elite. I don’t think it’s all the receivers, that’s a small portion of it.
January 4, 2026 at 7:01 PM
That’s been a recurring issue in his career with a bunch of different highly touted WRs, so I dunno what to do with that.
I think he’s played relatively well the whole season, for the first half or so his receivers had an insanely high drop rate
January 4, 2026 at 6:55 PM
I think a relevant response to this would be “basically everyone anointed him as a top-10 (possibly top-5 QB) after one year with one of those buffoons.”

I’m just saying: Caution maybe isn’t the wrong response to Lawrence playing really well for a month and a half.
3) He was coached by a series of buffoons and now is being coached by adults who are tailoring an offense to his strengths.
So, what’s the more likely explanation:

1) It just happened to take 4.5 years for Trevor Lawrence to figure out how to play like a franchise QB

2) He’s just had a good month and a half or so

"How what feels?"
"Holding the cup."

The cup in question:

I know I’m ultimately the idiot for falling for the bait, but … don’t Miyagi in The Karate Kid and Luke in The Last Jedi actually have fairly similar arcs in how they respond to the requests of their would-be mentees?

I’m sure I’m the last person in the world to mention it, but the $47 Stanley Cup stand-in on HEATED RIVALRY is extremely funny every time it shows up on screen

I guess the good news is that while I found Henry’s backstory pretty poorly told (and the distinction between the Upside Down and Dimension X or whatever totally ill defined), it didn’t really impact my enjoyment of it because I just … never cared about that stuff very much at all!
It's weird that Netflix copied the whole Harry Potter playbook, produced a massive stage play, but didn't publish the script

We all criticize the way college football does it, but admit it, you'd rather just arbitrarily award the playoff spot to the Lions or Ravens than either of the Bucs are Panthers making it, wouldn't you?
it's so stupid that a game between two eliminated teams will decide who makes the NFL playoffs. clearly they need a better system: having 12 athletic directors with obvious conflicts of interest sit in cloaks in a fancy hotel ballroom and decide which teams get in (one must be Alabama)

I think it's safe to say I expected the NPB imports this offseason to get bigger contracts than they did.

Okamoto/Murakami both signed for significantly less than Jung Hoo Lee, Masataka Yoshida, or Seiya Suzuki did:

Lee: 6/$113m
Yoshida: 5/$90m
Suzuki: 5/$85m
Murakami: 2/$34m
Okamoto: 4/$60m

Good point: Yoshida was coming off five straight 160 wRC+ seasons including a 202 and 195 mark in his final two seasons.
He's also not the best hitter coming from Japan since Matsui as the post says. He might end up hitting better than them, but Yoshida and Suzuki were better in NPB
January 3, 2026 at 7:09 PM
I will say, while Okamoto comes to the majors with smaller question marks than Murakami, perhaps, there’s really no question Murakami has been the better hitter *so far*

Okamoto: 3x wRC+ >150
Murakami: 6x wRC+ >150 *in a row*
According to Jeff Passan, #Bluejays have agreed to terms with Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto.

He’s won 3 HR titles in NPB and has a career .860 OPS over there.

Best hitter to come out of Japan since Hideki Matsui, and in his prime. (Ohtani from another planet, doesn’t count)

Still room for Bo.

Didn’t necessarily see this specific signing coming, but it makes sense given their whole approach, and it’s good to see them continuing to keep the pedal down. Don’t expect him to be an impact bat, but a solid signing.
