Judged in terms of efficacy, Jan 6 appears to be one of the most successful protests of the modern era. You can call them hogs, make fun of them all you like - their theory of change appears to have been (perhaps accidentally) correct.

Trump's behavior here is consistent with overall US foreign policy. He's crass, and crude, but until people grapple with the fact that this is essentially all we've done since the Monroe Doctrine, there will be no fundamental change or understanding.
