Senior enough Software Engineer. Lefty of some sort.

NM->Bos->AZ->Big Island->Big Bend->Austin->Bay Area->Seattle.

I find this sort of horse trading cronyism deeply unappealing.

The idea that an organization only endorses based on past and future favors leads to a government where nothing is done on principal and where you're left surrendering your influence for scraps
Cascade ‘guessed wrong’, bet on the losing Mayoral candidate. If Wilson freezes out WA’s only statewide bike nonprofit, it’ll be to the detriment of everybody who rides a bike in Seattle.

It wouldn’t be the worst outcome for Bremerton. I think cascade focuses too much on the city of Seattle anyway.

I do think it's worth calling out the bravery of standing up to the dem machine. Putting yourself out there is hard for normal people, it's part of why so many politicians are sociopaths. They're the only people who aren't afraid to stick their necks out like that
Daw - look at her!

I'm so proud of Katie Wilson and everyone else who wouldn't just let the local Dem establishment/machine automatically give Bruce Harrell a second term. The desire for someone else was palpable and Katie was brave enough to step forward in a strong and focused way. Thank you!

This is firmly giving "year of the depend adult undergarment".
They’ve laid off so many people that the government is now getting its economic data from DoorDash.
November 12, 2025 at 5:43 AM
If democrats want to claw back some concept of the rule of law they need to pursue anti corruption aggressively in areas they control too.

Bruce has run an incredibly corrupt campaign because he knows as a part of the machine, he's allowed to do so.

Dems are no better than Repubs on this issue
UPDATE: The city declined to provide a breakdown of internal costs for Mayor Bruce Harrell's slickly produced budget video, which largely duplicates his campaign talking points, after initially saying that they would. 1/2

Why does the media from the bigot island across the sea get to have an opinion about Seattle? Fuck off, brits, you're not serious people.
Let's see how the right wing media in the UK are handling a Katie Wilson win. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

They've already done this -- for the best Bond film. Casino Royale was a soft reset, it moved him backwards in his career to allow him to be less hardened and explore new emotions in the character.

I'm inclined to think the people working on this are fucking idiots, but I do respect Villeneuve
this is so silly. people know the deal with bond. the writers should just embrace the metatextual aspects of the franchise
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Sneering islamophobia has been the norm for the times for at least 30 years. This is more of that. Appelbaum's stance can be reduced to a single issue: Gaza. Shapiro is staunchly pro genocide. Mamdani is not.
You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

The cool thing about this is it doesn't really matter. Schumer is a failure. When you're at the top of any organization you should be held accountable for your failures.

Chuck is a failure.

But the PDC says he wasn’t doing anything wrong with city resources.

Time to clean the corrupt house.
Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell was putting out at least a press release daily celebrating all the amazing things the mayor's office was doing right up until, let's see, November 3.

Nothing since then, though. Weird!

The only constant in American politics is that the democrats are useless.

When you can't pay for health care remember the name Tim Kaine, because he's voting to make sure it's too expensive for you.
My statement on the funding deal to reopen government, protect federal employees, and vote to protect health care:
November 10, 2025 at 2:16 AM
Chuck "My only job is making sure democrats support Israeli genocide" Schumer is going to sell everyone down the river because he does not care about your health care costs.

Democrat leadership is letting this happen and when you can't pay for insurance they're just as much to blame as republicans.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
November 10, 2025 at 1:41 AM
Even the dumbest man on earth knows that democrats are dumb.

It's important to understand that when the dems lionize veterans as a baseline for office what they're doing is building support for state violence, here and abroad, into the parties DNA.

I understand the electoral math, but the real result is evil people like Duckworth continue to support evil.
The one time I managed to talk to her I asked her if she would support ending arms sales to Egypt after they used them to slaughter 1,000 civilians during the Rabaa massacre and she told me "Egypt is a valuable partner in the fight against Hamas and Hezbollah"

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

I got drunk and rewatched Hamilton, no it fucking rocks.

Yeah it has political short coming comings jesus christ it's so good.

I think it's really important to understand that both establishment dems and republicans saw the ultimate enemy as people who might oppose the status quo.

They both wanted a rich, violent police force to crush protesters and left leaning activists.

It's simply true.
This isn’t a small note.

I don’t hate Biden with the intensity so many on here do (and not looking to relitigate that here).

But he was always really conservative on policing, and he hadn’t really changed, and lots of changes he could have at least started never happened, and that’s really bad.
This is just a small side note, but one of the things that astonished me most about the Biden transition was there seemed to be no plan whatsoever to root Trumpism out of the fed bureacracy. Firmly believe we'd be in a much better place had they taken that on....

Just like the Nazis this is a eugenics project. While it is largely framed as cleansing the nation of a racial minority (and that IS an action they're taking) it's also going after other groups they see as lesser.

We need Nuremberg and gallows for this.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota
November 8, 2025 at 8:03 PM
So there's this concept of "moral hazard", which is more or less investors must be responsible for their own failings. The 08 bailouts killed that concept in America and this is the cost.
"I'm making billions, and, if it fails, taxpayers will bail me out"

Americans who voted for this are nazi partisans and the world would be justified with turning all Americans to glass.

The thing about Mamdani that kinda bums me out is I don't think he should be exceptional. This should be the status quo for elected officials. But we're such a fetid rotten country that this seems like an aberration.
This is disability visibility.

Mamdani listened. He didn’t pander or talk over the disabled journalist.

He acknowledged his concerns and gave real responses about how he plans to fix them.

1 in 4 Americans has a disability, it’s a huge number of voters.

Don’t ignore us!

This is so funny because I literally said this to friends the other day. Every time republicans are like "THE DEMOCRATS ARE COMMIES" I'm like "I FUCKIN WISH BRO LET ME TELL YOU WHY THEY AREN'T"

This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Some people can be rehabilitated.

For the good of everyone, it's better that some people are addressed through alternative forms of justice.

This is one of those cases.
