Folks need to understand that political consultants rode the sputtering Bruce gravy train all the way to the bank with his unprecedented $2 million PAC. Team owners, real estate barons, and Bellevue car collectors bankrolled the ‘experience’ shit you see in the New York Times now.
Yeah, the "she has no experience!" canard was run out a lot by the money making the ads, but when people asked how things got to where we are after nearly 20 years of Harrell in government, it was always Not His Fault

Honestly, she's done more in gov't than he has last 4 years

It's important to note that the woman in question explicitly said that the NYT had no obligation to say shit about Epstein and Trump, and also that Mamdani's fucking college application was newsworthy.

You gotta love that the Right in this country are effectively trying to move the Overton window to, “actually there are good kinds of sex abuse”
Megyn Kelly said she thinks “there’s a difference between a 5 year old and a 15 year old” when it comes to sexual abuse. Megyn Kelly has a 14 year old daughter. Megyn Kelly is going to Hell.

The New York Times condescending to you is a pretty good sign, considering everything they’ve done since oh…the War in Iraq

NYT’s dumb take caused me to go look up her Wikipedia. Pretty impressive work. Cofounded a nonprofit focused on transit, moved legislation, served on a government workgroup on revenue stabilization, board of a think tank, etc.

Just didn’t get laundered through Yale/Harvard…

This is great. Her and Wilson both on STB!
Hearing from multiple sources that Teresa Mosqueda is likely going to take over Girmay Zahilay's seat on the Sound Transit board after he takes office as Executive.

Incredible 🧵blow-by-blow of Bruce’s concession 👇
Omg he said “Katie Wilson”

We took on a powerful incumbent who was expected to coast to reelection.

We faced more corporate PAC money than has ever been spent attacking a candidate in a Seattle election.

We built a people-powered movement rooted in hope for our city’s future.

And we won.

This is YOUR city!

I think Erica’s analysis was pretty dead on. The negative campaigning worked. Voters have different expectations of executives than of legislators, and Wilson had $2 million of negative ads & mailers attacking her lack of experience. Foster didn’t.

@lauraloeseattle.bsky.social taught an excellent workshop to our tenants association the other evening (a tenants org that @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social actually had a role in helping establish back during the proposed renter-protection rollbacks!) Very excited for our city’s future!
…perfect timing to be working on public bathroom themed letters to the editor with affordable housing residents when we finally have a renter mayor who will actually listen to them! @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social - I know you know we need public bathrooms, especially near frequent transit.

And don’t forget the role restaurant owners play in trying to suppress the minimum wage
If you didn’t know, Seattle restaurant owners and consultants have been fighting against street food and food truck reforms for decades.

Our regulatory environment is why until now, Seattle has not really developed a street food culture like Portland (or many other cities).
With unpermitted food vendors proliferating in King County, Washington restaurateurs are calling on the county and state to get more aggressive to deter them.

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Katie Wilson. Someone so humble, dedicated, and truly influential. Congratulations to the people of Seattle. You deserve an Executive that cares about each and every one of you, and you've now got one. I'm so happy for you.

I don't take anyone seriously when they talk about the founding fathers with some kind of reverence, or when they pretend these men were privy to some novel wisdom unique to their time.
Thomas Jefferson was 44 when he started in creeping on 14-year-old Sally Hemings. And Sally, who was enslaved, shared a father with Martha Wayles Jefferson—Tom's wife.

He's been dead literally centuries and the US refuses to reckon squarely with what this meant for definitions of American greatness

Look, her plans are great and I want them to succeed, but the basic fact that she is also raising a child here under the same conditions and stresses we are makes her eminently qualified on its own imo. For Seattle to work, it needs to work for families, period.
Wilson was mocked for acknowledging that the cost of childcare is outrageous and her parents help her with that expense. But it turns out a majority of voters feel the same squeeze, liked her universal childcare plan, and voted accordingly.
Katie Wilson wins Seattle mayoral race, incumbent Bruce Harrell appears to be preparing to concede

The exciting race for Mayor of Seattle can now be called. With almost no ballots left to count, challenger Katie Wilson has an advantage that incumbent Bruce Harrell cannot overcome.
