This is horrific. For the neighborhood. For the workers who have to try to put this out. For the planet. For the people who have probably tried for years to get maintenance done and been deferred by the bosses. We must have a managed, publicly controlled shutdown. We can't afford to wait.

More Americans are very worried about climate change than are about crime.

thanks obama
I think it's underappreciated that most policy support for clean energy under Obama came in exchange for lifting longstanding bipartisan limits on oil and gas exports. This enabled surging oil and gas production, methane emissions from which outweighed CO2 emission reductions from clean energy.

I am having a hard time reconciling "Charlie Kirk was a fierce advocate of open dialogue and free expression" with "we must identify and persecute everyone who is insufficiently mournful"
After Charlie Kirk's death, teachers and professors nationwide fired or disciplined over social media posts
At least a dozen faculty and staff have faced fallout over insensitive comments online.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

Just thinking about how the right made up an entirely fictional left wing character that resulted in so many bomb threats and the like and nobody will face consequences. But people on the left who accurately clocked the victim’s life work lost jobs.

Can an Abundance bro please explain to me how permitting exemptions for the semiconductor industry, which has left solvents in the drinking water of tens of thousands of Californians - is going to accelerate housing construction?

To be clear: Most of California's most toxic sites and most dangerous industries were seen as "high-tech" when they polluted. Aerospace, computing, nuclear - even oil and gas! "Advanced" does not and has never meant "clean"!
Right. And the people who tend to live next to industrial zones are disproportionately people of color and low-income, the most vulnerable. And it may not be just semiconductor facilities. Would TESLA be allowed to expand without CEQA review? How about a new data center with gas turbines for power?
