Always a great sign for how things are going in your country when 21-year-olds are like “hey, I innovated a system to play bagpipes in tear gas”
Jack Duffy attaches a respirator to his bagpipes to play through tear gas. “I always play it whenever the police retreat because it's like, ‘You fucking ran while we stayed,’” he says.

on what basis can you not speak about personnel actions? these are all public servants. they are employed by the public. what is the justification for hiding public data?

also a lot more than two people have been killed?
SWALWELL: How many ICE agents have been fired for their conduct under their leadership?

LYONS: I can get you that data

SWALWELL: Is it more than one?

LYONS: I'm not going to speak about personnel actions

SWALWELL: God, I hope at least one person has been fired. Two people have been killed so far

Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat forever. Steal a fish from one man, give it to another, and tell the second man that he needs to pay you a subscription fee every month if he wants to keep getting fish, then you’ve successfully disrupted the fish market.

The notion that ICE wants people to believe their agents are legitimate because they have identifying clothing which looks like a Halloween costume is lunacy

The maniac who murdered Melissa Hortman and her husband brutally proved this point-in Minnesota, no less
SWALWELL: If someone rolls up in an unidentified van and gets out wearing all black and their face is covered with no ID and they ask me to get into the van, how do I know they're an ICE agent or a bad guy?

The proposed centers are so large that some could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once, according to a DHS spreadsheet of more than 20 potential locations that was verified by NBC News. The largest federal prison in the U.S., for example, has roughly 4,000 inmates.
ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

I briefly worked in the medical device space.

The layers of negligence required for this is mind boggling.
When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

This is the 38th time that the U.S. military has unlawfully killed civilians on the orders of Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump. At least 130 people — never charged with crimes, their identities unknown to their executioners — are now dead.

This is criminal negligence. He shouldn't just be removed from leadership, he should be removed from office.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

The Marshall Project found more than 70,000 cases referred to law enforcement over allegations of substance use during pregnancy—and that’s a significant undercount.

One patch of black ice later and my employer started making noises about letting me go because my broken spine got in the way of “essential job duties”.
For those struggling

Have you never considered that having a disability can be & is often a massive hurdle to gainful employment?

Have you considered that disability is sprawling, diverse & comes for us all?

That even from a self-preservation standpoint you should advocate for disability justice?

Prepping my genocide course and it's really sad to reflect on the fact that the United States Army was the first in the world to codify the law of war and prohibit crimes against civilians.

It formed the basis for the later Hague and Geneva Conventions.

And it was drafted by a Jewish immigrant.
