Finished this tonight. A somewhat lesser known work, while it did not, in my opinion quite reach the level of my favorite Faulkner (Absalom! Absalom!) is still a great read and a very creative story (two separate stories, actually).

May read Henry Miller next. Have never read him. Any fans of his?

They claim dudes think about the Roman Empire, which is true, but I also think about the American fleet crossing the Japanese “I” at Leyte Gulf several times a year.

I’m not alone on this am I?? Am I? 😂

Not much better than the smell of wood smoke on the first cold night of the year. Thanks to Hurricane Helene I’ve got plenty of firewood spilt and stacked!

A pitch-black cave in the Balkans is home to what appears to be the world’s largest spider web, which researchers say is a singular work of cooperation by two usually-hostile species of spider. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/08/s...

Just blocked two followers who made posts that could reasonably be interpreted as supporting shooting ICE agents.

Please, if you feel that way don’t follow me. Have the decency to block me first.

It is going to be 81 degrees this afternoon and 27 degrees tomorrow night.

We are in the weird time in South Georgia. Might go swimming. Might build a fire. Who knows. 😂🤷‍♂️

Shameless fear mongering.

In my view our immigration laws are seriously jacked up and in need of being rewritten. But I guess for our politicians it's easier to behave in such a really barbaric way towards people who want nothing more than an opportunity to live a better life rather than just rewrite our immigration laws.

The human cost of Trumpism. Listen to this kid.
Let’s assume, as is implied, that his parents came illegally but he was born here and is a citizen.
Assume they committed a crime by illegally crossing a border.
I ask: does this punishment fit the crime? Can anyone with a heart say it does??
Devastating— “I’m afraid for my parents to leave the house. They treat us like dogs because of the color of our skin. I shouldn’t be scared, I should be focusing on school.”

What can you say? This is a good comment.
Greene: "I will praise Nancy Pelosi. She had an incredible career for her party. I served under her speakership in my first term in Congress and I'm very impressed at her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for our party like Nancy Pelosi was able to deliver for her party."

I strongly recommend never throwing anything at a law enforcement officer.

But I also think, in the overall context of everything that has taken place, this is a just verdict. I don’t take the issue lightly. Right now the government is acting in an overbearing and oppressive manner.

Chewing on this a bit, and once you get past all the baloney the jury does have a tough decision to make. The crime charged is:

Any hunters out there? My son and his lifelong best friend had the hunt of a lifetime today. They bagged a 9 point and 10 point buck moments apart.

"Mandami is a communist!"

I doubt Mandami is a communist. NYC, Wall Street, Manhattan is perhaps the center of capitalism and free markets in the world and that's not changing.

Reality is that Mandami will do some things that are left wing, some may work, some won't but NYC is not turning commie.

Does someone have a list of all the people who promised to leave NYC so we can put them on free buses to Florida?

I go to Winn-Dixie every weekend and never have to give ID.

What the hell is he talking about.
Trump: "It's time for Republicans to do what they have to do and that's terminate the filibuster ... we should start tonight with 'the country's open, congratulations,' then we should pass voted ID, we should pass no mail in voting ... you go to a grocery store, you have to give ID."

Last night was exciting for all of us who oppose Trumpism but only a beginning. My boxing analogy is that last night was a series of body blows that have stunned the other guy. 2026 could be the straight jab that puts him on the ropes. And 2028 could be the knockout punch. It’s time to get to work!
