one of the only downsides of living in the correct time zone is that sometimes you wake up and find that all the people east of you have been riffing on something for a long time and you have to scroll really far to find out what it is

There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

Seattle elections resolve in a normal amount of time challenge (impossible)
91 votes separate the two mayoral candidates in Seattle, but Katie Wilson has pulled ahead of incumbent Bruce Harrell and is now in the lead.

on the plus side, the car is where I get to listen to the extremely good french language station from up north. that's probably the only thing I'll really miss about this place

goddamn I hate driving so much. hate owning a car, hate having to deal with other drivers. I can't wait to move back to a city where I don't have to do any of this any more

working on this again today. right now I'm using plan mode to describe a relatively small schema change that impacts almost every page in the UI. halfway through planning I changed my mind about the data modeling and the robot is struggling to apply that change without serious handholding
I know I've said this before but today's truly the day: I'm going to try vibe coding a simple webapp that I've been putting off for over a year

Democrats are capitalists. they like hierarchy. they do not see all human rights as innate. they do not know what year it is. they do not deserve the knee-jerk, full-throated benefit of the doubt many Americans afford them over and over and over again. enough. they’re done. enough.

if you think it’s a good idea to reply to a post about the US government’s dysfunction with a note about how your country’s government works differently please ask yourself what you’re trying to accomplish by sharing an extremely obvious and well-known fact and then throw your computer away

longish term (one year) review of the whiteboard surface desktop I got with my uplift desk: it kicks ass. being able to write directly on your desktop is a game changer. I am not at all careful with it and I have some superficial scratches that do not effect performance but otherwise it's pristine

Product teams should be required to read their documentation out loud to a room full of normal people before it ships. If anyone laughs the PMs responsible should be fired on the spot
just trying to see what time it is. thanks

one of the many things that kicks ass about windows is that if you change your default browser from edge to something else you will still get edge if you click any link that MS supplies (e.g. anything in control panel, help, etc)

didn't they get sued into the ground for basically this

Friends don't let friends follow Alt National Park Service. This is so weird and inappropriate!!!
AltNPS's post is full of the same lurid details and breathless dramatization as their previous attempt at ICE raid erotica from a few weeks ago.

Things that AltNPS could not possibly have witnessed, and which aren't reported anywhere else.

I made a lot of progress yesterday and more today. I'll share the code along with a blog post later but my early impression is that it's very convenient, the code it produces isn't very good, I'm impressed with its ability to interpret prompts, and I'd probably use plan mode as a standalone product
