it is absolutely infuriating that none of these people know anything at all but get to make decisions for the entire country based on the whims of the last person they spoke to

Living in Washington means getting comfortable with watching the rest of the country celebrate on election night while you wait several days to find out what happened

Context in case you’re not from Seattle: Washington state is 100% vote by mail and it is not unusual for it to take several days for all of the votes to come in. Races that are too close to trigger concessions are also not unusual, though 91 votes is tighter than I can remember any time recently

I drive a tiny car because I don't need anything bigger and because small cars are better for everyone. it's bright red because I know from my motorcycle days that people can't see small vehicles and get scared and erratic when a small vehicle startles them. but it doesn't help if people don't look

today I got yelled at by some old dude in an suv who clearly did not see me, cut me off, and got mad when I honked. this happens about 60% of the times I have to drive somewhere. It's always a man, always older than me, always driving a car that's way too big, always mad at something I didn't do

it is truly incredible and I would love to understand how they arrived at the current system. It’s easier for me to imagine how they’d think it was preferable for phones (despite still being terrible) but I just don’t get it for computers

I wanted to see what the vibe coding experience was like and whether it had benefits for very experienced developers. I'm still forming my thoughts on that but it's gonna be a "yes but" with a long and detailed "but"
I'm going to try using it as an assistant on a separate app later

I guess I never said this explicitly but I'm trying to do this without writing any code at all. so far I've made a small handful of manual changes to copy and styling but no code changes at all, it's all claude

this isn't surprising but I think it's a good illustration of how much oversight you need to do to keep your code from becoming a mess
also a good illustration of why I would be extremely nervous about using an app that was vibe coded without that oversight, ie by someone without dev experience

it's doing better than I expected but it's very clear that it doesn't "understand" the change. for example, part of the model change was splitting a table and making a bool column redundant. instead of removing the column it replicated it into the new table and model

Like sure, some specific situation might be avoided under a different system but there are many roads to the same outcome and it’s not helpful or interesting to bring up procedural differences while ignoring the bigger picture

yeahhh. I think a big part of why these comments get under my skin is how they are always very narrowly focused on the thing that’s happening rather than talking about it from a systemic standpoint.

Democrats are capitalists. they like hierarchy. they do not see all human rights as innate. they do not know what year it is. they do not deserve the knee-jerk, full-throated benefit of the doubt many Americans afford them over and over and over again. enough. they’re done. enough.

Awesome! Please explain in detail what concrete, specific steps need to be taken within the constraints of US law to convert our system to the one you’re imagining.

“This could never happen in my country because blah blah parliament”
Cool thanks for the input, how exactly is that relevant to anything at all? Oh, you just wanted to be a smug piece of shit? Carry on then I guess
