the people who are most vocal about their fear that they might catch a ban are the people who would most benefit from a social media timeout

My mute list must be working because I have no idea why people are talking about Bill Clinton

Don’t tell me, I’m not asking

cost of living based salaries are a real free-market joke like what the fuck are you talking about where I live adjusts my salary; selling timeshare slices in san fransisco so people can claim san fran residency for salary purposes. total scam shit.

It’s interesting to see the difference in opinions about mod actions between people who have worked in community management and people who have not

I’m not saying it’s a reliable predictor of any specific position but it’s clear that those groups think about it differently

it’s kinda easy, you have to not allude to wanting or having someone harmed or killed, or telling them to harm or kill themselves. yeah it sucks that the so-called public square doesn’t have a context chip but i also think it sucks that we find some kind of relief in saying those kinds of things
all I’m gonna say is that I am a life-long slightly edgy poster and I’ve never caught a suspension or a ban anywhere - because it is in fact quite easy to avoid crossing the “this joke could possibly be construed as a violent threat” line on social media

I have just finished a rewatch of the entire modern Ocean’s franchise and my rankings are thus:

11 > 8 > 13 > 12

I will not be taking questions unless they’re about how 12 is bad

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I’m superstitious enough that I’ve been waiting until someone called it and, well, if the Seattle Times is calling it for a progressive you know it’s real

Harrell, Nelson, and Davison all out. It’s nice to feel encouraged about an election.
Katie Wilson elected Seattle’s next mayor
Wilson took a 1,976-vote lead over Bruce Harrell. With a maximum of 1,320 ballots remaining, it is mathematically impossible for Harrell to catch up.

The amount of drama around mod decisions on here is baffling to me. Like do people really think that if they get mad enough and yell at the devs enough they’ll get what they want? It hasn’t worked yet but maybe if they keep trying

A: “don’t do this, it’s insecure and difficult for users. Do other thing instead.”
B: “But other thing is haaaaaaard”

Okay? And? Prioritizing your needs as a developer over your user’s needs is almost always the wrong choice and is exactly how we ended up with so much miserable software

one of the only downsides of living in the correct time zone is that sometimes you wake up and find that all the people east of you have been riffing on something for a long time and you have to scroll really far to find out what it is

There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Seattle elections resolve in a normal amount of time challenge (impossible)
91 votes separate the two mayoral candidates in Seattle, but Katie Wilson has pulled ahead of incumbent Bruce Harrell and is now in the lead.
