as much as I am enjoying Control, there are several points where it obliterates the tone by having the player character and NPCs go "gosh what about these puzzle objects huh, bet they're important. what do you think it means" and so on
The part I hate most is when they decide to have the bark delay by some time as a "oh if the player doesn't notice it, THEN we'll give them a hint", then when I play I enter the room and am like "oh what a cool room, I will explore and enjoy the ambiance a minute" and I exceed the timer and it Barks
If you're making a game for the players who absolutely need extremely high-frequency nagging barks from an NPC, you're kind of making a game for no one *but* those players
