As someone who has frequently defended free speech rights of sex workers and sex work advocates, it's completely unsurprising but nevertheless galling to be reminded once again how POWERFUL MEN talk fondly about sex work in private while demonizing it and pushing oppressive laws about it publicly.

Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

"But don't call me a fascist supporter!"
This is now the most important thing in America: Democrats must lose completely.

They brought this on themselves. They forced this on all of us.

"I like winners."

That sort of self-hate is something you need a therapist for.

And hopefully one that can teach your privileged white ass some empathy too.

The other thing (this is a structural condition I guess) is that even compared to the baseline weakness of political parties in the US, the GOP was astoundingly weak in 2016 after decades of letting successive groups of lunatics in to run the asylum.

BIDEN PASSED THE GREEN NEW DEAL IN ALL BUT NAME

but because it wasn't The Green New Deal and lost a handful of provisions, it was "basically nothing".

SMDH.

Meanwhile, the data shows *it's working* even though Trump is trying to fuck it!

I believe it was Andrew that was behind the homophobic flyers.
Breaking Cuomo family news:

Andrew's father Mario also ran for NYC mayor, and when these homophobic slurs "appeared" in Catholic neighborhoods during his campaign, he unequivocally condemned them.

STILL no direct comment from Andrew on these Islamophobic slurs "appearing" in Jewish neighborhoods.

Not only did Cheney shoot him in the face, the guy then went on TV later and APOLOGIZED to Cheney for getting shot in the face.
I am so disappointed that this was never referred to as the "Dick-Whittington shooting"
Imagine being a notable local lawyer and money guy, and being best known for being shot by Dick Cheney

the GOP didn’t even sell it as a housing affordability policy themselves, the press just invented that for them
Whenever people chime in with "it's not the press's job to sell or explain policy" I think about how NBC and other described the "MASS DEPORTATION NOW" signage at the 2024 RNC as a potential solution to the housing crunch. If it's not their job it's their passion!
Missing from every conversation like this about this IRA is that absolutely nobody knew what was in it because the President was incapable of selling policy to the public. It's really not the job of the press to do this.

i genuinely cannot stand actual european elites condescendingly explaining american public opinion to americans. reminds me of when some british lady IRL tried to tell me she understood southerners better than i ever could, a southerner who lives in the south.
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

The smug ones are the ones going around saying not voting is good and then wondering why no one bothers to pay any attention to them when elections roll around.
These guys are always so helpful in dismissing hundreds of thousands of voters concerns with a smug little post.
And yet Gaza had shit to do with the loss as it wasn't near the top of anyone voters minds.
