Everything happens so much.

In the end, aren't we all just dogs playing poker?

1st game completed in 2026:
Octopath Traveler 0

Not my favorite Octopath game but definitely the most unique. The town building element wasn't as deep as it could be but the 8 person, multi row party completely changes the gameplay. Same as Octo 2, it ends with an absolutely incredible boss fight.
The year of the fire horse sounds awesome. Chinese zodiac always sounds cooler than whatever western astrology tries to do.

It's great that there's only 3 companies in the world that make hard drives. Really good, stable foundation the entire tech industry is built on.

Watching the trailer of Mandalorian and Grogu and all the comments are about Embo. Never getting over the Gulp Shitto accusations.

The push to cloud/AI was always about this. Yes there's tons of benefits to offloading compute/storage to cloud but you are renting that space, not owning it.
This is fundamentally the transfer of compute-power as something a person can own, to something a person rents. Which is, you know, not good.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

The tone of Sons of Sparta is quite similar to the Norse saga which makes me think the tone of the remakes is going to be dramatically different from the original games.

This is actually a really important thing with regards to audience retention metrics that companies overlook. When you're between the ages of 10-18 you can create powerful nostalgic connections to media you enjoy at the time. Long dev cycles make for generational gaps in attached consumer bases.

I don't think the pixel art in this game is incredible or anything but there's a handful of vistas that look amazing with the lighting

The 2D God of War is way more of a Metroidvania than I thought. Like, it just is one.

In honor of the new game, I dug out my shirt I got years ago that just says Cleveland but in the Castlevania font.

The full map to the original Castlevania. This is a brilliant map. Despite seeing a map in between stages, you don't really think about how it all connects, but the flow lines up almost perfectly making one cohesive castle.

Thinking about it, I do feel like the last two weeks show that Sony has learned something from the Jim Ryan years. 3 years ago, State of Play would have been dominated by Horizon: Hunter's Gathering as the 'big' thing. By splitting that off last week, it's positive for everyone IMO.

I’m kinda glad to see big companies finally getting more comfortable with handing the keys to their big franchises to cool indie devs with a proven track record. Castlevania by Motion Twin, God of War by Mega Cat. Smart! The New Hollywood games moment is perhaps here, baby!
