I think on some level I get really frustrated to see progressives claim the far past was better than today because it’s explicitly the MAGA project to take us back there, and people need to understand that it was a poor, cruel, ugly, hard world compared to the one we’ve built

I approve
Warner is up for reelection. He was widely seen driving towards surrender behind the scenes, but he's voting no in public because it's unpopular. The real question is whether he supports a senate leadership change. If not, someone who supports senate leadership change should primary him.
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.

Dems are very proud of themselves for their “savvy” willingness to tell their base to simmer down and let the experts work. What they don’t seem to understand is the intangible, but very real, damage that does to the enthusiasm of their voters, who feel abandoned. And then the “experts” fail!
The Dem base wants the shutdown to continue because it’s the only time we’ve felt like our electeds were representing us: trying to squeeze the GOP instead of squeezing us to accept concessions; directing their anger at the Republicans instead of at their own voters for wanting them to resist

Mark warner definitely was
Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

The best dem running for Michigan senate by far
This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.

I'm really sorry it had to happen like this but I'm heartened to see more people recognizing the need for Reconstruction Democrats regardless of who has to go to get them there.

and let's be realistic they are going to do this again in january like, note for note.

Nuremburg trials is the moderate position
He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

One area that looks pretty exploitable for Dems to peel off racists while also being good policy is how every Republican pundit and politician is on the take from Gulf states, but every potential Republican voter is just a gutter anti-Muslim racist.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

FTC has a lot of tools to protect and help consumers and she actively made it harder to use all of them except suing to stop mergers and even then based everything on her own theories that kept losing badly. There is a good reason Matt Stroller loves her and a lot of consumer advocates do not.

She pissed off career staff by forcing them to exclusively focus on her own bespoke antitrust ideas that repeatedly lost in court while ignoring the rulemaking and general investigative work that they felt was at the core of what the FTC does.

my unpopular electoral opinion is that you probably shouldn’t get to be attorney general of a state if you wrote what Jay Jones wrote; and if you are going to write it, sending it to a Republican operative shows a profound, profound lack of judgment
