"Well, Child, yesterday I used one from Superbad, from 13 years before you were born, to reference a complaint about copper ingots from 3790 years before you were born".
Today I learned that apparently kids in school are being given the assignment "go home and ask your parents what their favourite meme is and write a report about it"

Stitching together flawed data stored in different formats to create an unconstitutional citizenship database to check voter rolls against because US leaders are in the grip of conspiracy theories is having exactly the effect you would expect. @telliotter.bsky.social reports:
DHS’s Data Grab Is Getting Citizens Kicked Off Voter Rolls, New Complaint Says
As states check voter registration against a mashup of federal data, a new complaint says US citizens are getting kicked off state voter rolls as a result.

Economists are blaming Trump's tariffs for the continued decline in manufacturing employment since April. But this isn't stopping Fox pretending Trump's policies are actually reviving the industry.
Fox pretends Trump and his tariffs have revived manufacturing, but reports show the US has lost 72,000 manufacturing jobs since April
Fox News pretended that President Donald Trump and his tariffs had revived America’s manufacturing sector while Trump was on tour to defend his economic policies. But the most-recent data shows that m...

Here’s something fun that has gone relatively unreported. It appears that Microsoft is going billions of dollars in vendor financing, and has been for years.

It's weird

I was REPEATEDLY told that payment processors "had" to ban all nsfw to mitigate the risk of processing CSAM.

So if that's true then why wasn't X immediately dumped by every one of those payment processors when Grok turned into an automated CSAM generator?

annoying little guys are ACTUALLY our best weapon against fascism and I am not even joking, you know exactly who every ICE agent was in high school, you know how distracted they will get when they see a stancil-looking mfer filming them and have to decide between doing fascism or doing bullying
I'm gonna be real, I respect bluesky's ability to pivot so swiftly and completely on stancil. I never really got why everyone liked fighting with him but I 100% get why everyone likes watching him break ICE's will to go on.

A thing that might not be clear from the outside is that while everyone here is engaged in this fight, ICE’s use of dystopian technology means that you essentially have to pick a lane between observing ICE and doing mutual aid. They are tracking observers’ cars, and taking pictures of their faces.

Four more have supported abolishing ICE in the past.

Once the police or state national guard directly disobey state and local elected officials, it's game over and there's no longer civilian control over police forces. It's what leftists have been saying for years, that police are unaccountable occupying forces in their own cities. They were right.

I’ve never understood why this isn’t a thing. A financial and ethical audit at the end of the term, with penalties enforced right away—something like clearing in high school—makes far more sense than the present combination of scrutiny before office, immunity while in it, and impunity after.
Politicians having to undergo a thorough audit every few years is also an appealing idea if we’re thinking in Athenian terms.

No it’s the other way around. All year people have said “Anthropic will only lose $2.8 billion” all year to defend against them losing $5.6 billion in 2024. They lost $5.2 billion in 2025. People will try and spin that as good somehow. It is not. The company is a dog.

Oh, it will ONLY lose 2.8 Billion? How reassuring. For a second I thought this whole thing was FUCKING STUPID. My mistake.

I want to scream because you know what ICE/DHS aren’t doing? Enforcing law. They’re accountable to nothing, breaking court orders, ignoring laws/rights in place to prevent the things they do. The more they break the letter of the law, the more you’ll be hard pressed to convince others to follow it.

But they've made it available anyway. And you should watch it.

Today, the City Council voted 9-4 to give LAPD more money since they're hiring 170 more officers than what was budgeted for.

In the past two fiscal years, LAPD went over budget by $210 million + had $260 million in liability payouts.

The City will always find money for LAPD.☑️
