Semicolon Emergency
Unless there's some sort of semicolon emergency, this is my sole issue of the day.
So how about every question from the press is "When will the president apologize for his disgusting racism and also resign?" and they just keep asking that, and only that, till he does both (though I'll be fine with just the latter)?

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

okay, so we offered up the MILDEST list of requests (mostly like "can they please follow laws") and the GOP responded with "HOW FUCKING DARE YOU, WE WOULD RATHER SHUT THEM DOWN THAN NOT LET THEM DO MURDERS"

it sure seems like there is no downside to just saying "sweet, go for it"
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

things I would do if I had as much money as Jeff Bezos:
—keep a number of obscure comics in print
—give a $1m to every public library in the country
—endow newsrooms in every city with more than 1m people
—buy the Walgreens Boots Alliance and convert it to a network of free clinics

They closed the CIA World Factbook and deleted it entirely.

The evil is not that he bought it specifically to shut it down. The evil is that he bought it to do *whatever he wanted* with a necessary institution for American journalism. It is malice, the malice of robber barons. They didn’t build mines specifically to kill people either, but guess what.
I don't buy the idea that Bezos is intentionally killing the Post. If he wanted to do that he could have just bought it and shut it down. Plenty of rich people have done that. The problem is he hired a Murdoch tabloid team to manage it and it's not a Murdoch tabloid and you can't run it like one.

this particular line is maybe the best statement of purpose i have seen for those of us who want a more militant opposition to this administration
“Let us be clear: we want the power of the state. We wish to hold the criminals of the regime accountable. We wish to seize back the public funds looted by Trump and his cronies. We wish to undo the damage he has done to the government. More than any of that we wish to rebuild.”
From Powerlessness to Power
We will not achieve any of our ultimate goals without exercising state power, and the most effective way to take state power is through nonviolent but confrontational resistance.
