Both have pretended to be consequential people at CBS News -- Clooney as Edward R. Murrow in "Good Night and Good Luck" and Weiss as someone who knows how journalism works in real life, unfortunately.
The funny thing is George Clooney probably knows just as much about broadcast journalism as Bari Weiss. That is, not a lot.

Alan Dershowitz, Mr “I kept my underwear on” is not going to be happy about this.
The redacted document says he negotiated the Epstein agreement in order to protect himself.
More generally, Epstein’s buddies are not going to be happy,
as there seems to be a way to see behind the redactions …
It is. You can actually search visible text on the redacted documents and the completely UNredacted document appears in the results 😭

Yes, exactly: Most journalists cannot just quit their jobs in showy protests (kids, mortgages, colleagues they don't want to leave in the lurch). If you're making Anderson Cooper money, if *you are Anderson Cooper,* you could just start your own news organization.
A lot of people like to post that journalists should quit their jobs when stuff like this happens. It can be hard for rank and file. It is not as hard for millionaire TV personalities.
This is Bari Weiss in stonewalling, chin-out, "I won't let the haters get to me" mode. Whether she gets away with it will be determined by whether Sharyn Alfonsi's colleagues at 60 Minutes and CBS News decide to fight back. Pelley, Stahl, Cooper--this decision goes on everyone's permanent record.

The irony is, there actually IS one person I can think of who talks eloquently, and often, about how his faith informs him as a person and a citizen, and who does it in a way that even atheists listen to and respect. But CBS canceled his late-night show and it’s going off the air in May.

Yes, it’s illegal. Like changing it to Department of War, like ten thousand other things. Part of the Trump strategy is to break the law and convey “the rule of law is weak and feminine and laughable and should be overridden by Our Guy.” Trump is fundamentally anti-law.

I'm not clear what this shows -- that AI is as smart as a 12-year-old kid who knows how search engines work?
I used the same prompt with the latest Gemini, and it gave me this. It’s still not 100% accurate (it misses 1998, repeats 2010, which knocks the order out). But it’s much closer, and no spelling mistakes. I could probably get it to do it correctly with a couple more iterations.

This was the moment I stopped believing in the American government. I think this might be true of many people my age.
🇺🇸 On this day 25 years ago, The Conservative Supreme Court handed George W. Bush the 2000 presidential election.
A heartbroken Al Gore graciously conceded, and delivered a passionate call for national unity.

🇺🇸 Just 20 years later, Donald J. Trump lost by 7 million votes and attacked our country.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

I remember back in the late '90s -- when magazine writers were still getting big book and movie deals -- an editor of mine who'd worked with a bunch of them sighing and saying, "The story no one will ever publish is the exposé of which famous writers can't actually write at all."
Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.
