While CBP and ICE are giving piss-poor training, more training really won't stop the problem. Greg Bovino is very well trained. The call to train better will just be pouring money into a violent organization that literally trains people to be violent.

Reminder that Mpls burned in 2020 bc Mayor Frey and Gov Walz slow walked the arrest of the officers that murdered George Floyd by not transfer prosecution to AG Ellison until 5 days later. I pray they don't pull that shit again.

In 2020 when the heinous murder of George Floyd happened mere blocks from my house I told my out of state friends that if they could avoid living adjacent to an international incident, they should. Now I get to do that shit all over again. Oh, goodie.

He is a narcissist using the moment to advance himself, not protect people. He is a pretty face who's good at talking some of the time. He has blocked almost every progressive action taken by our council and he's responsible for a great deal of violence perpetrated against our homeless population.

I fear we are going to start having to fight this narrative as well. Frey is not someone we want on a national stage, but most only know him from being the guy who “saved” the city in 2020. Make sure his narrative does not override the fact that ICE murdered our neighbor on his watch.
As a local, please believe me when I say his ambitions are not ones we want to see in higher power. He consistently abuses our unhoused neighbors by having evictions in polar vortexes and heat waves, vetoes council measures like rent control , and is Republican backed by astroturfed PACs.
