Fiber artist and opinionated Minneapolis leftist. Come for the embroidery, stay for the chaotic bisexual energy. BLM - ACAB

After listening to a composer discuss how ai is transforming & destroying his industry, I was driven to create this piece. Embroidered on my hand-controlled #chainstitchembroidery machine w my interpretation of a famous woodcut of a Luddite destroying a jacquard loom.

cost of car ownership exponentially increasing bc auto industry only wants to sell giant expensive vehicles that squeeze as much profit as possible: normal free market stuff

Minimal congestion fee in a place you don’t live and rarely visit: literal war
Taking away our cars can, should, and will be treated as a declaration of war upon rural America.
I find "America isn't really set up for it" to be an annoying rebuttal to any sort of proposal to reduce car dependency. Our leaders used policy to create a system of car dependency and we can sure as hell use policy to undo that. There are absolutely barriers, but do nothing is not a solution.

I find some small comfort in the fact that whoever sold Jim O'neil that suit clearly hates him
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

You motherfuckers don't care about fraud. You don't give a rat's ass when the police dept runs their yearly overtime grift, racketeering shakedowns or the most massive PTSD worker's comp fraud in the history of this city - you are the actual fraud for pretending.

really a remarkable feat of fossil-fuel capitalist propaganda + path-dependencies that an average min $8000/yr "mobility tax" on practically every household is just kinda submerged as an economic non-issue, not worth interrogating or debating in any substantial way

unless ofc gas prices spike a bit

Amazing joyful perfection.
Freaking love this city and all the people in it so much….a bunch of people went and turned the 4 train into the Polar Express giving out toys to kids along the way from the Bronx to Brooklyn….shoutout to the @newyorkers.live account on IG for doing this 🙏 www.instagram.com/reel/DSnsvWS...

I literally think about this stuff once a week
Thirsty Dog!/Thirsty Cat! (1994-1994): Liters of lightly carbonated bottled water made specifically for pets, containing vitamins and flavorings ("crispy beef" for dogs, and "tangy fish" for cats), but FDA approved for humans consumption, and even certified kosher.

Just received this pin which likely came from my great great aunt Mary who worked as a campaigner for women's suffrage in the years leading up to the passage of the 19th amendment. Feels so incredible to hold and feel the history, the visceral sense of how recent this was.

The headline is stupid but the essay is pretty good, basically discusses that making novel discoveries requires human cognition and the ability to see and explore complex patterns and connections in a way LLM's simply cannot.

Had a goofy dream last night I walked by the white house and saw that trump was forcing all his female secret service agents to wear basically this outfit with really tight skinny jeans, male agents got to wear normal suits.

Been trying to clean up my Google Photos storage by once a month or so going back to the same month five years ago and deleting superfluous images. And I swear in every photo from Nov. 2020 I look SO TIRED and older than I am now.

For generations people “cut off” parents by moving away and mailing them a card once a year. Travel and long distance phone calls were expensive; distance effectively cut people off w/o being so explicit.

The difference now is that communication is cheap so cutting them off requires being explicit.
There's no hard data, so it's impossible to know for sure, but I suspect the number of adult children cutting off their parents isn't significantly higher than it used to be, and what's actually new is that the children are now explaining it in therapy terms rather than simply ceasing contact.

At SNL I worked with artists who made the funniest, stupidest graphics in no time flat. Some of my biggest jokes would have been impossible without these geniuses building an insane image or finding the perfect real-life photo of a politician. Sucks that their work is being pushed aside for slop.
SNL used AI art tonight, multiple times.

Booooooo.

Thinking about how when I was growing up you could buy Coke II (aka New Coke) in the Chicago area long after the rest of the country only had gone back to only having coca cola classic. It was cheaper, too.

does MN have a weird local soda? I can't think of anything! I suppose La Croix is kind of a gross upper Midwestern soda that somehow the whole nation came to love, but that's from WI.
Every state in the United States has a disgusting soda that only they know about and that’s kind of beautiful

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.
