Something else about the halftime show: As I said, especially as a 41 year old white person who barely speaks any Spanish (much to the shame of my extremely fluent mother), this was not For Me—and I was fine with that

But also I got this strong vibe of “if you want to party with us you are welcome”

Seemed appropriate to repost this.
jack asked if i would sketch up a poster to tell people in nearby neighborhoods about the partnership between flock and ring, and this is what i came up with. it can be printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

-The long awaited (much warned about) intro of “AI” recognition. It starts w/ searching for a “brown dog” but means the tech is there for lisence plate reading, face recognition, searching for suspects by description, etc

Canadians, here's a petition for you to sign.

Read it. Then scroll down to the MP who is backing it.

And then, once you stop laughing, gleefully sign it.

Random Steve Buscemi anecdote: Working at a remote field site off the coast of Labrador, bad weather stopped excavation for a couple days. We all gathered in the main tent, drinking spiked hot chocolate and playing games. One game involved writing anonymous answers to questions on pieces of paper…
I never noticed this either.

Geriatric/elder Millennials are absolved. No one born before 1990 had a smartphone during their childhood or teen years.

TikTok, IG, and YouTube shorts are dominated by 1990s- and 2000s-born influencers, mostly. They came of age in this immersive digital world.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: when you have a president who shares racist imagery of a former president on social media, class consciousness alone will not solve it.

White supremacy will not just disappear if we dismantle capitalism. We must do more than that

Oh, I get it. It never mattered if the development of AI was successful or profitable or people liked it or used it at all – all that mattered was that we get to the point where nobody fully trusts anything they see, reality is always questionable, and plausible deniability rules. Proof evaporates.
