If you want to know who took all of your money, it's the people with all of the money. Famously, we know that's people working in child care.

This is solid advice. I think there’s a feedback loop about feeling righteous anger and satisfaction that is deeply injurious to the self. I tend to just let it go. You can’t fight with a pillow.
your mileage may vary but my experience on here improved pretty noticeably when I stopped offering explanations to people whose questions sought conflict rather than answers

Filming on tape made storytelling tighter and the best movies are two hours or less.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

Nothing ever went badly with colonization, though. Right?
It’s fucking nuts that we’ve come to this.
🚨 "Canada, for several months now, has been developing a military strategy for how they will respond if there is an incursion over their southern border...that is now a real thing that the Canadian military is thinking about. Didn't use to be."

Gen X is so fucked. All of that money and wealth that their boomer parents accrued will flow to health care and other industries, leaving their kids holding the bag. They’ll be handling this as their own kids are accruing college debt. Ask me how I know.

You gotta admit it's really funny that Trump is cognitively at about the level of a lower beast in one of Aesop's fables.
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Right. The party can’t govern, doesn’t negotiate, has no coherent ideal other than making wealthy people wealthier.
yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests

If you do not introduce articles of impeachment for the illegal acts of war in Venezuela, you have abdicated your oath to the constitution and should step down as leader. Doesn't matter that it won't pass, that doesn't absolve the responsibility to do it.

Just woke up even angrier. Impeach, convict, remove. Draft articles now. Either we have a representative government or we don’t. Do not shut up about this until there’s a vote.

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
