I spent the last year writing a book about the ridiculous demands of what it means to be masculine. But a guy who takes care of people who served our country, asks a woman “are you ok?” When she is in distress and looks out for his vulnerable neighbors seems like a pretty good role model for a man.

If this is what they do when they're out on the street with people pointing cameras at them, what do you think is happening inside the ICE prison camps that they keep denying Members of Congress access to?

the party that spammed the “what about decorum and decency?” button for 20 years while insinuating our first black president was from Africa while insinuating mass shooting of school children were staged is going to be suddenly shocked that nobody gives a shit about their decorum & decency anymore.

In like 5 months, republicans are going to try to rerun a Jay Jones when it gets leaked that some democratic says that ICE agents should be liked up along a wall and it’s not going to make a single difference in that democrat leading by a landslide. And republicans will not comprehend it.

In 1775 a lot of people were unhappy with the King but they weren’t necessarily ready to commit treason. That changed when the King’s troops started shooting their neighbors, stealing food, and raping women.

Good god.
when the feds essentially abandoned the scene today after gassing us, we saw upon returning to the intersection this pile of what we were pretty sure was alex’s coat & some of his clothes, a lighter & a crampon, with crime scene tape in it

we created the barrier to preserve likely evidence

Operation PARRIS is one of the most heinous things this administration has done yet. Trump’s people ordered ICE to round up 5,600 legally present refugees, people who have done NOTHING wrong, with no warning, and jailed them in Texas to be interrogated about their status.

This is a white supremacist paramilitary operation. Their goal—their stated goal!—is to force America to submit to the President's racist domineering vision for the country.

The sooner everybody starts confronting it on the terms that they themselves have stated, the better.

Imagine this in a trial.

Devastating first-hand witness to Alex Pretti's killing

Declaration filed in federal court:

"I don't know why they shot him. He was only helping. I was five feet from him and they just shot him."

MN BCA through the MN attorney general Keith Ellison, yes. The TRO is against them "destroying or altering" any evidence. That's all they asked for on the TRO, this does not itself require anything be turned over yet but it is acting to preserve that possibility.
BREAKING: Judge Tostrud -- a Trump appointee — has quickly granted a restraining order, barring the administration from "destroying or altering evidence" taken from today's shooting. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The killing happened about 15 hours ago. Since then:

- MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (FBI equivalent) got a warrant for the evidence on the scene
- Tried to execute it
- Were forcibly turned away by feds
- Filed for a temporary restraining order
- TRO granted by the federal district court

Minnesota ICE-watchers did this.

By relentlessly documenting ICE/BP/DHS abuses—taking on personal risk to do so—they’ve gotten the horrors into more information streams. Got more people to pay attention, undermined Trump regime lies, and shifted the stances of some Democratic officeholders.

What kind of depraved, anti-American sentiment is "ICE > MN" anyway? I know it's commonplace now, but that's a whole goddamn state. Who would have ever said "our paramilitary organization is more important to us than an American state" and kept their job before
This is an actual post from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Praising ICE after Alex Pretti was killed, blaming the Democratic leadership of Minnesota, and writing that ICE is greater/better than Minnesota.

He is actively demeaning the people of Minnesota just hours after Pretti was murdered.

Really smart move. Will the full a circuit and Chief Judge Colloton preserve an administrative stay in the face of this showing I just likelihood of success but irreparable injury and balance of equities
UPDATE: Here's request from @ACLU & others to 8th Circuit to lift administrative stay the appeals court granted (anonymously) earlier in week. That set aside for now a district court judge's order limiting DHS agents' tactics against peaceful protesters. Doc storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I agree with this + I sorta sneered at the “resistance within the Trump administration” stuff but in retrospect there were principled people within his first administration preventing enormous harm.
imo of all the formal political institutions in US life, the judiciary has given the best account of itself by a pretty large margin (with the obvious exception of SCOTUS) and a younger me was way more dismissive of the courts than history would prove deserved
A magistrate judge found no probable cause to support arrest warrants for 5 people involved in the St. Paul church protest.

DOJ appealed to the 8th Cir.

That appeal led to this remarkable letter from the Chief Judge of the Minnesota district court…
