Yeah, no, I did an honest review of AI tools and practices and found none of what it produced was any more valuable than tools and work we could make or do ourselves - in most cases substantially worse, and in all cases dramatically more morally dubious.

We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

This chase for profit has led Xbox to raise prices, cut thousands of jobs, and rethink everything.

EA is an ill omen for the American game industry and AAA in general for a number of reasons but #3 is one I've been thinking about a lot when commentators talk about indies picking up the pieces. Indies fundamentally can't provide enough jobs to sustain a professional game industry of scale.
before you say “well losing EA is no big loss”

1. shut the fuck up
2. people have families to feed
3. games such as hades only exist because the studio cofounders met while they were at EA. studios that make games you don’t like are still enormous institutions of gamedev experience and knowledge

Do NOT believe the misinfo going around

There absolutely have been MASSIVE TOS updates

Most notably:

1) Specifying no FICTIONAL noncon
2) No "dangerous" kink
3) No DISCUSSING self harm, suicide, or substance abuse unless its "educational"

So what can we DO about it?

Have governments instead considered the revolutionary idea of employing a large number of subject matter experts who never hallucinate fake facts and are trained to brief Ministers whenever needed? They could be politically neutral and permanent. We could call it a civil service or something
AI Minister Evan Solomon says he used an AI tool to get briefed up on the Liberals’ last AI bill. We tried it and, well … if a human briefer briefed a minister like this, I don’t think they’d get a second call up.

We tried the AI tool Evan Solomon used to summarize an AI bill. It didn't go well - The Logic
Canada's AI minister used a Google tool to learn about an unpassed bill on privacy and AI. When The Logic did the same, the results were far from perfect.

This is sadly true, which is also why I fight to make it as easy as possible to get it into the game as quickly as possible, and make regular playtesting an obligatory thing
an adjacent tragedy is how when you're writing a video game in a team with possibly dozens of people who COULD read it, no one outside narrative will read a single thing you write until it's actually in the game. it just won't happen
one of the great tragedies of making a book is that the time you are most excited about it (when you are in the middle of making the damn thing) is, necessarily, the time when no one else is reading it

One of the things I’ve always found shockingly easy was visualizing branching paths and cause and effect in my head. I can tell just by looking at variables and state data how different player choices can break systems in a number of edge cases.

I feel like this is rarer than I realized.

Look, the rules are that you can only wish ill on three people. You can’t wish for more wishes of ill, and a wish of ill in no way guarantees an ill outcome. I, the genie of this not very effective but apparently legally actionable lamp, make no promises about ill will causality.

I, too, wish horrible things on J.K Rowling, a horrible woman that is *actively campaigning for and funding the destruction of trans people’s lives.*

What the hell are you doing, @bsky.app.
Reinstate Jessie Gender.
it appears that @bsky.app have suspended the account of @jessiegender because a trans person saying "I wish ill on JK Rowling" is against the rules, so let me say with my loud cis voice that I too wish ill on all perpetrators of hate speech against trans people

reinstate Jessie, this is ridiculous
