It's amazing how an editorial on a class crisis in the arts doesn't mention 15 consecutive years of benefit cuts, weighted to hit Northern and rural people harder. Not even once.

A lot of the iconic art of the last 50 years was made by people on the dole.

Editorial: Countless reports and celebrities have called for greater working-class representation, so why has nothing changed?

We'll be able to watch the rain for longer
A quick reminder of what #BigFebruary is about…
Thanks to the magic of the cosmos, we start gaining daylight much faster in Feb than in Jan. Over 20 mins a week - setting us up for Spring.

This chart is by @neilrkaye.bsky.social and is one of my all time favourites.

February. A lot going on for a short month. Imbolc, Candlemas, Ramadan. Carnevale across the world. St Valentine’s & pancake day. Lighter days. Citrus rules - enjoy blood oranges, Sevilles, bergamot lemons. Dark greens abound, minerally & fresh. Snowdrops, crocus & aconite spread a tapestry.

Do you use #CiviCRM? Are you based in, near or vaguely adjacent to Manchester?

We're holding a CiviCRM User Meetup in Manchester at the end of the month. It would be lovely to see you.

If enough people sign up, I might even buy the good biscuits.

The last four are also just big towns.
There are only seven cities in England: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds and Newcastle. The other pretenders are just big towns.

As far as I'm concerned you can stick yer Matt Goodwins up yer Blackfriar.

This @manchestermill.bsky.social deep dive, down and through maps of Salford, scraping away at layers of history is more like it.
