I started making hand drawn zines after poet John Hegley taught a zine class. We used copy paper and a set of HB pencils he'd bought from the local pound shop. That was it, no frills, no fancy materials. We just doodled and made poems.
Poor people apparently don’t have enough money for a dollar store box of pencils + sketchbook but they do have money for a Midjourney subscription, apparently.

AI bros already grabbed people with disabilities and children as shields, I guess this was inevitable
“Poor people have a right to art!”

They sure do. So get to it.

I finished my #perzine on having supervision as a peer mental health facilitator for the first time in 10 years. I used art markers and photocopied linoetched print fragments from my #printmaking fails. I used Shay Mirk @mirkdrop.bsky.social s brilliant making memoir comic zine too.

With it being budget day, it's ok to take a break from online news and social media because it's always an ableist, anti welfare media free for all. Protect your tender heart, save your sanity, you don't need to witness and process this in real time to be an activist.

While all the noise is going on around motability benefits & how disabled people should be given no more than a pogo stick to get around on - it’s worth considering -

The cost of motability is £1 billion

The cost of company car tax breaks is £3.25 billion

I don't pirate books or buy books from Amazon, but I do like buying books from Blackwells, The Bookish Type (Leeds LGBTQIA+ bookshop) the Oneness Emporium and Little Red Tarot for witchy bits and I'll pre order books when I can. If I have to, I'll buy from Waterstones.

November for Beginners BY Rita Dove.

Snow would be the easy
way out—that softening
sky like a sigh of relief
at finally being allowed
to yield. No dice.
We stack twigs for burning
in glistening patches
but the rain won’t give.

I know some of these guys hide stuff but I think we're at a point where parents need to be checking their angry white sons bedrooms for neo national hate group flags and SS insignia bookends.
A 20-year-old Florida man was arrested after allegedly planning a livestreamed attack and threatening children. Federal authorities found an array of neo-Nazi paraphernalia at his home, including a flag associated with Atomwaffen Division. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

The thing about loving someone who lives with chronic pain is that when it's bad, time slips and I'm simply shuffling through hot and cold packs, baths, massages, hugs, all I can do is stupid little set changes around the edges of big pain that going nowhere.
